IT INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT PG
Answer 1
Electronic record management indicates digital storage and management of the records.
A set of programs can be designed in such a way that it can track, store and maintain the
records. It is a process of digitalizing the records with an aim of saving a considerable
amount of time and money.
Business Intelligence and analytics comprises of different business strategies that helps in
proper analysis of certain business information. It provides a predictive view of business
operations involving the business priorities and long time business goals (Chen, Chiang
& Storey, 2012). The main purpose or use of Business Intelligence and data analytics is
to support an improved decision making process.
Data mining is generally a practice of examining a pre existing database in order to find
particular information. It includes sorting through a considerably large datasets and
includes mathematical algorithm for sorting the data. Text mining on the other hand is a
process of deriving high quality information from unstructured or textual data and it is
therefore a major difference between text mining and data mining.
Big data analytics and the data discovery deals with the examination of a large amount of
data that helps in uncovering the hidden patterns in a particular data set. Big data
discovery is therefore a big trend in the analytics (Kambatla et al., 2014). It provides the
capabilities of data exploration through different powerful and intuitive tools that will
facilitate the decision making process. The major benefit of big data is that it increases
the sped and efficiency of data processing.
Enterprise architecture can be considered as a blueprint that generally defines the
structure of an organization and its operation (Lapalme, 2012). The major benefit of

enterprise architecture is to determine the process by which an organization can
effectively achieve the current and future objectives. It furthermore helps in creation of a
unified environment across the all business units.
Management Information system refers to a database, which is computerized and
provides financial data and information in detail. The system is programmed in a
particular way to produces regular reports in the operations in every stages (Laudon &
Laudon, 2016). Management information system helps a particular organization in
realizing maximum benefit from an investment.
Data life cycle gives a detailed overview of a life of a data from its creation to deletion.
The management of life cycle of a data is policy based and it manages the flow of the
data of a system throughout the life cycle of the data.
Cloud computing is considered as a process of making use of a network of remote servers
that is present over internet in order to store, process, maintain and manage a particular
data. It provides a ubiquitous access to the different configurable system and its resources
(Dinh et al., 2013).
Answer 2
Data mining and text mining infuses different business values in an organization. It helps
in analyzing a customer’s behavior that helps an organization in improving their business
processes. Furthermore, the process of text mining helps in determining and analyzing the
different types of risks that a company might face in future (Witten et al., 2016). It increases the
customers’ engagement with an organization as well. However, the major benefit of data and text
mining is that it improves the decision making process associated with an organization (Wu et
al., 2014).

Answer 3
There are certain issues associated with cloud computing. The major two problems
associated with cloud computing is security issue and issue with the data storage. The different
examples of problems faced in cloud computing are as follows-
1. Cloud computing although provides a rich platform for data storage over the internet, it
is very much prone to data theft and data breach. Proper security essentials are needed to be
ensured for preventing the theft of data over cloud computing (Chen & Zhao, 2012).
2. Selection of a proper vendor is a major issues associated with the cloud computing.
One of the major needs of leveraging cloud services is the selection of vendor.
3. Another major issue associated with cloud computing is threat from an insider.
However, proper authentication control might help in eliminating this risk (Zissis & Lekkas,
2012).
4. Lack of proper standardization is another major issue associated with cloud computing.
The problem data security can be mitigated by ensuring proper security essentials such as
encryption and authorization (Arora, Parashar & Transforming, 2013). The process of storage of
data over cloud can be efficient by choosing a trusted vendor.
Question 4
An EIS system was designed and implemented to keep the senior managers informed
about the internal and external data along with their key performance indicators.
The Executives faced a number of problems one of which was that only a half of the data
needed was available in the EIS. The data was not available in times of need.

The major two reasons for the failure of the EIS system were that the IT architecture was
not properly designed for supporting a customized reporting and the system had a
complicated interface. The IT architecture was generally based on the financial
accounting rules and the complicated interface prevented the executives from reviewing
the KPIs.
In order to improve the EIS system, the CIO worked with a task force for designing and
implementing a completely new EA.
The benefit of the new architecture followed a business-driven approach instead of the
financial and reporting driven. The new architecture was easy to modify that eliminates
the costly and time consuming ad hoc analyzes.
The main benefit of data governance is that it eliminates the inconsistencies in data
thereby providing the KPI reports in inventory turns, cycle times and profit margins of
the different SBUs.
Answer 5
The presence of a huge number of data in the terminal makes it difficult to search for a
particular data. Real time data fetching from POS terminal will help in proper data
processing and critical decision making.
Coco cola transformed its approach to decentralized database to a centralized database
that helps in managing the data centrally. Furthermore, the data governance program
implemented helps in understanding the needs and preferences of the customers.
It is important to have a trusted view of the data because the company’s business strategy
mainly depends on the data. Trusted data helps in efficient business planning thereby
increasing the profit margin

Black Book model is an application that brings together 600 flavors required for creating
orange juice.
The benefit of Black Book model is that, it will help Coca-Cola in producing orange juice
of a consistent flavor throughout the year.
