Information and communication technology (ICT) refers to the activities that are

everyday business operation of a travel agency.
Use of ICT in Business of Travel Agency
ICT has a huge value in the business and daily operations of a travel agency. ICT
provides huge opportunities for the travel agencies to streamline their business process and make
it more efficient. ICT in form of internet and automated software has made the business
operations of travel agency a lot easier (Mokhtarian & Tal, 2013). With the traffic pattern and
customers’ preferences being recorded automatically, it becomes easier to understand the needs
of the customer. Furthermore, the use of ICT enables the travel agencies to record the daily data
in a structured manner. This data include content transactions and customers’ information
leading to an efficient management of the business.
With the use of ICT, the communication among the employees and the customers become
easier. The use of internet increases the cost efficiency of the communication technology.
Furthermore it helps in real time data tracking thus providing the customers accurate information
(Berné et al., 2015). The use of ICT has opened a new range of communication methods that
allows the staffs of the travel agency to contact each other and the customers in a cost effective
manner.

communication (Oye, Okafor & Kinjir, 2013). An efficient and effective investment of ICT
makes an important contribution to the success and growth of business. The use of ICT devices
helps the managers to maintain the information at fingertips. This helps in easier management of
the business processes.
The use of ICT in the business of travel agencies proves to be beneficial for the
customers as well. With the e-tourism services, the customers who are looking for a trip need not
visit an agency and can book a service from the travel agency’s website. The use of ICT in the
business of travel agencies reduces the role of a travel agent.
However, the use of ICT in any business has certain risks and security issues. With the
ICT devices, the fraudsters can easily gain access to the details of the customers that is stored in
the website. Enforcement of effective security measures can tackle this problem.

It can be seen that use of ICT has a positive effect in the business of travel agencies. ICT
