INTRODUCTION
Sainsbury plc trading as Sainsbury's is the second largest chain of supermarkets in the
United Kingdom, with a 16.0% share of the supermarket sector. This report highlights the role of
Information technology in retail industry organization. After that the report highlights the
different type of network technology in the organization. After that the report highlights the
different ethical and social issue of using different technology in the organization. After that
report highlights the difference between internet and intranet and different stages of system
development cycle of an organization.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Role of IT in retail industry
Retail industry is known as back born of most of the economy in current scenario. This
industry used to contribute very positively towards the development of economy. In recent time
Information technology has played a very crucial role in development of retail industry. Raluca
and Cristina (2018) highlights that information technology generally used to play a very crucial
role in maintaining good sort of customer satisfaction in the industry. As with the help of
information technology retail sector organization is able to understand the different need and
customer in the organization. As customer need and preference generally used to change on
frequent basis in retail industry. On the other hand Bishel (2018) highlights another crucial role
which has been played by Information technology is that it used to bring good sort of comfort
among the customer in the industry. This has eventually resulted in seeing larger number of
customer in the organization. Comfort generally mean that consumer are getting more option to

Kennedy (2019) explains that there are six different stage which is involved in System
development process. Author highlights that first stage is System planning, it is important stage
as in this stage we decide what to do and help in find solutions of problems by Analysis problem
after that finding out the alternative solution for the problem and plan how we make our better
than that of competitors. Second stage is system analysis, the expectations and needs of the
client should be determined. Feasibility of project will be evaluated on the basis of
technologically, economically and socially. Proper communication system should be maintained

stage is System design, in this stages design of the project will be determined and define. A
rough design will be made on paper to determine whether it is suitable or not. Then the
expanded design will be mad to identify the technical and functional requirements. Fourth stage
is Implementation and deployment, in this stage actual construction is taken place after identify
the requirements and specifications . Construction is done on the basis of design which was
earlier made and evaluate. In published paper Vale (2020) explain that fifth stage is System
testing and integration, after constructing actual design it will be evaluated. It is important to
evaluate designs which help in identifying the deviations and appropriate solution. Last stage is

stage the organization used to decide the design of system in the organization. This phase
defines the elements of a system, the components, the security level, modules, and
architecture.
 Implementation and development is the stage in the organization in which organization
used to implement different system in the organization. Generally in this stage proper
understanding of system is build in the organization (Vale, 2020).
