Assignment 1-Installation and Configuration of server
1. Local data backup and installation
Click backup in the system tools.
The system tools are present in the accessories.

2. Creating a disk partitioning scheme
Put the server CD
Open the disk partitioning screen
Click the required space.

Click which type of file, one could want and press next
4. Installation of network OS
After completing the selection process, the installation will be started.

5. Install and configure server applications and network services
Select local area connection in the network connections. The network connections are present in
the control panel.
TO set the IP addresses, click the internet protocol menu.

6. Reconnect and reconfigure connectivity devices
Click device manager for the below process. The device manager option is present at computer
management.
7.OS patching
Click system properties for the below process.

8.Restore local data to new server
Start-All programs-Accessories-System Tools-Backup.

The network directory is created by performing the below process.

10. Account creation and account management
Click active directory in the administrative tool for creating account and go through the below
steps.

Click users under the active directory users and click new for creating the group.
11. User environment configuration
TO perform the below process, click security settings.

Generate the file in the in the required drive.

To create the quota, select add or remove role in the “Manage your server” option and follow the

To add the printer service, select the server role.

14. Sharing, access and security settings
Press right click at the folder, to add the sharing, security. Follow the coming steps for further
process.

15. Implementation of security policy
The group policy is a security option. It is configured for computer security settings. The
computer security settings are Administrator and Guest account names. Driver installation
behaviour, logon prompt access of floppy disks and digital data signatures. The security settings
are configured in both Policy Object Editor and the Group Policy Management Console.

Assignment 2-Installation and configuration of a wireless router
Exercise 1- Install, configure and test wireless network
Step 1: Set SSID for a router
Step 2: Using the browser window access the Router’s GUI
Type the URL address: http://192.168.0.1

Step 3: Use the Router GUI to set the SSID
Select wireless tab for wireless configuration page.
Ensure Network Mode is set to mixed
Press save when the process is completed.
Exercise 2-Set the wireless Channel
Setup 1: Set the wireless Channel
To find the wireless setting page, click wireless tab
Set the standard band.
Press save after complete the process.

Exercise 3: Configure Encryption and Authentication
Step 1: Set Encryption by configuring the encryption mode and key
Click wireless and select wireless security
Type WEP at the security mode.

Exercise 4: Backing Up and Restoring a Configuration File
Step 1: Backup the current configuration file
Select system tools and Press Backup Configurations

Give the file name and press Save
File name: surajkhadka_Backup.cfg.bin
Step 2: Return all setting to Factory defaults
Click the Factory Defaults in the administration.
Delete all the data in the current configuration by selecting the Return Factory Defaults.
Explore the Router Graphical User interface.
Step 3: Restore the previously saved configuration file
Re-Enter to confirm, type the password and restore the information.

Exercise 5: Updating the Firmware
Step 1: Update the firmware
Select system tools and open the firmware Upgrade tab

Click browse to select the file location.
Open the router bin file.

Exercise 6: Security configure MAC Address Filtering
Step 1: select wireless and wireless MAC filtering
Step 2: select enabled and permit option in the wireless MAC.
Step 3: Identify the MAC address for providing the access to the client. Click add button,
to add the clients. Click save.

Exercise 7: Configuring Access Points—Performance
The online emulator is used for configuring an autonomous access.
Type the below URL:
http://www.support.dlink.com/emulators/dap3520/
Click the login.
Press wireless in the basic settings.
Press down arrow under the wireless band types of IEEE 802.11
Networks, second band and press arrow once again to close the drop
Click arrow in the mode to know more options
The below screen shows the Change of Wireless Band from 2.4GHz to 5GHz.

Press Performance under the advanced settings.
Change the Wireless Mode setting to mixed 802.11g and 802.11b.
To know the options in the data rate, click down arrow at the data rate.

Change the Wireless Mode setting to Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b.
Click down arrow in the transmit power to know the values present at that option.
Why does the Short GI become disabled with this option?
Reason: changes of wireless mode.
