PROJECT TITLE:
Improving public health informatics
BACKGROUND AND CURRENT PRACTICE:
The project plan is based on improving public health informatics. The public health IT
system is required to monitor health, evaluate and improve the delivery of the public health
practices. The IT system captures, manages and shares the information as core ability of the
public health informatics. It supports mission of the prevention from diseases and promotion
of health by leveraging the IT solutions. It designs blueprint of complex data systems which
keep the information secured and responsive to user’s requirements [5]. The informatics
converts the raw data into practical information. The public health informatics is improved by
functioning it as translation services for practitioners by data interpretation, turns it into
information and presents that information to practitioners.
The current practice of informatics is used to enable monitoring, supporting the
decision making and improving the population health. It is assured that right IT system is
used in healthcare industry for improving timely delivery of the quality data plus assisting
data driven decisions. It is building bridges among the public health work areas by creating
spaces for the informational pathways. The principle of informatics is to support the
improved public healthcare outcomes [2]. It develops the informatics abilities in various
countries so that the IT system helps to thrive in growing the e-health world. This project
plan will use various on-site diseases centers for gathering data to inform the disease
prevention programs. The information system is combination of both human as well as IT
which can support operations and decision making in the public health system.

INITIAL RISK IDENTIFICATION
Following are the risks which are identified such as:
Budget risk: It is possible that the cost for improvement of the public health
informatics is expensive due to which there is high budget of the system that the organization
is not able to afford [1].
Resource risk: The resources those are assigned to the project activities have lack of
knowledge to perform the project work. They have no such technical knowledge to handle
the system. Sometimes, the healthcare organization has lack of project resources to perform
the work [4].
Security risk: In the healthcare organization, it is possible that as the public health
informatics store information related to healthcare records, therefore there is possibility for
loss of data and data stolen which provides effect on reputation of the organization [7].
System risk: The health informatics system may failed due to lack of maintenance and
handling. Therefore, there is failure to diagnose and failure to review the test.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
The expected outcomes of public health informatics are that the system can analyze
healthcare data to help facilitate the decisions as well as actions. It develops data driven
solutions for improvement of the patient’s health. The solutions can reduce expenses
throughout strategic data analysis. It is designed and implemented as healthcare tools for
measuring data and effectiveness of patient’s data plus processes [5]. The staffs and
healthcare providers are also getting technical support to record the data in a system which
minimizes human efforts and errors. In the healthcare organization, the system is mainly
implemented to improve the outcomes of the healthcare so that the patients are getting
benefits. It uses of the information into the healthcare sector for better outcomes.
