This report examines the application of project management principles within the Information Technology sector, specifically focusing on resource management. It investigates software solutions designed to efficiently manage tangible resources like materials, finances, and equipment, as well as intangible resources like time and personnel. The report highlights two software options: WorkOtter, a cloud-based solution for project management and resource allocation, enabling businesses to centralize projects, track progress, and manage resource demand; and Clarizen, another cloud-based cooperative work management solution designed to facilitate cross-organizational engagement by providing tools for resource connection, activity planning, and workflow management. The analysis covers features such as project portfolio management, report generation, resource utilization forecasting, issue tracking, and project supervision functionalities like reporting, dashboard creation, scope management, and risk assessment.

This report focuses on the discipline of project management and here we will be taking
Information technology sector. In the sub-category of the project administration industry, I will
be taking Resource management. The resource management includes processes via which
businesses administer varied resources efficiently which include both tangible and intangible too.
Tangible includes materials, finances and equipment whereas intangible includes time and
people. It includes proper planning of budgets and schedules so that right task involves right
resources (Westland, 2017).
I will be investigating some software which will support project processes of the Resource
management category within the industry. The two software’s which I have taken here are stated
below.
1. WorkOtter Software: It is a cloud-based program, project management and resource
solution to benefit businesses centralized projects, track project status and time, resources
demand and balance supply. It allows users for managing projects portfolio, generate pre-
built, interactive, status or process reports on projects, reports on resources utilization and
view forecast. It allows clients to submit any issues or requests and allows the managers to
track time, monitor resources, prioritize requests and review requests of customers. It can
evaluate project managers, assess performance and project progress. It will help in invoice
backs up from vendors, auto-generate timesheets and validate estimates.
2. Clarizen Software: It is also a cloud-based cooperative work management solution been
planned to benefit companies manage for cross-organizations engagement. This solution
gives tools for connect with resources, pan activities and manage workflow. It allows project
managers in defining project size, workforce requirements and scope. It permits users for
capturing ideas, plan initiatives and creates projects. In a single solution, Clarizen brings
together configurable workflow automation., in-context collaboration tool and project
management. It provides full control on the project supervision with features such as
reporting, dashboard, scope management and risk assessment (O’Loughlin, 2018).
