AI Summary
This report, a practicum on the role of IT in healthcare quality performance, explores the evolving landscape of data collection in the healthcare sector. It highlights the increasing use of IT, including IoT devices and electronic health records (EHRs), to gather patient information from various sources like surveys, billings, and medical records. The report emphasizes the importance of patient health records (PHRs) within EHR systems and the challenges faced by healthcare staff, such as cultural diversity and language barriers. It discusses the implementation of customized EHR units designed to support decision-making and address quality concerns, as well as the use of surveys for data collection. The report concludes that IT plays a crucial role in improving data collection processes and that staff training and motivation are essential for maintaining effective IT systems in healthcare.

1PRACTICUM: ROLE OF IT IN THE QUALITY PERFORMANCE PROCESS
Healthcare has been diversifying in the system of data collection. There are various
sources for the data collection in the health care sector. These sources include surveys, billings,
medical records and administrative enrollment. The IT has improved the data collection process
in the health care sector. As interviewed with a nurse, I was informed that the patient’s personal
health record (PHR) plays an important role in electronic health record (EHR).
I get to know that the staffs used to collect information and data from the registration
form of the patients. The major source of data and information is from the technical tools
including IoT devices like camera and healthcare devices. On the other hand, there are some
challenges in gathering data and information. The cultural diversity is one of the major challenge
in the data collection process (Bangale et al., 2014). The primary language of the patient might
not be understood able by the staff. Therefore, the language is changed into English by using
technology. During the interview, the nurse replied that the staffs are careful during collecting
and storing the data of particular patient. The staffs are the part of the department that enhances
their confidence.
I am acknowledged about the urgent care unit, inpatient, outpatient, and ED pathways.
Tragically that nurses confronted bunches of troubles when frameworks change. They thought
that it was difficult to deal with the EHR frameworks and practice administrations (Schobel et
al., 2016). With overwhelming workloads and medicinal services requests, the attendants thought
that it was hard to guarantee reliable and appropriate information fields over all units and offices
which fill in as understanding section focuses.
I precisely picked few medical attendants from a medicinal services benefit in United
States. This social insurance benefit has outlined a customized EHR unit (Gale et al., 2016). This

unit was in charge of giving decision support. The framework was fit for discovering differences
and educating quality concerns. The system was deliberately facilitated in a protected office.
Information in the system was accessed by nurses and other work force by means of online
services.
The attendants told that "Surveys" are an imperative method for gathering information
from huge populations. Results from reviews can be utilized to address the necessities of the
medicinal services industry. For instance, the California Health Interview Survey led by the
attendants met uncovered that reviews can be utilized to evaluate plans, restorative gatherings
and patient sentiments (Scott et al., 2016). Nevertheless, they cannot get to regulatory
information. The medical attendants utilize sends and telephone calls as a basic component of
overviews. Results from reviews have dependably helped medical attendants to get steady
gauges for a "decent" number of individuals.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the health care sector have faced many challenges in the data
collection process. It is essential for the nurses to collect important data and information. The
healthcare staffs look for minimizing the constraints in the data systems this require the
involvement of the IT in the health care. An appropriate staff training and motivation helps in
maintain the IT systems to collect data d information.
