Definition of IT in security System
The definition of IT security systems is that the security system is a method, which helps
to keep something secured with help of systems that has interworking devices and components.
There are many IT security systems used in many different areas (Ahson and Ilyas 2017). The
security systems are all networks of some integrated electronic devices that works together
having a control panel centrally. Security systems are used so that any intruders, or outsider does
not interfere in the network or somewhere.
Examples of IT in Security System
There are many sectors where security systems are used (Lee and Lee 2015). The most
common types of security systems are: 1) Residential security systems; 2) security system in
commercial areas; 3) computer security systems; 4) security of fire alarms; 5) security systems
for personal safety.
Residential or home security systems consists of all the IT securities that are used for
keeping the home safe, For example: exterior lighting, motion detectors, fire alarms, CCTV
Cameras, detectors of carbon monoxide, and many more.
Commercial security system includes button alarms, access control systems, cameras,
card readers.
Computer security systems include all the securities that are done for safety of
computer hardware and software. This may include cloud computing, network security, and
many more.

The security system that is explained in details in this report is the home security system.
Working of Home Security System
The residential/home security systems is used for mainly securing the entrance of the
home. There are sensors present at the entrance of a house that mainly communicates with the
control panel or the center of command that is installed somewhere safe in the house (Sharma et
al. 2014). The security systems that are used for securing a home are control panel, motion
sensors that alarms loud when armed, surveillance cameras, sensors of doors and windows
(Hande et al. 2018). The sensors of doors and windows are placed so that the windows are
accessible easily, the open spaces that are in home can be secured by motion sensors.
Advantages of Home Security System
The advantages of home security systems are:
1) Protects the valuables of the home;
2) Detects the crime;
3) All the sensors are remote accessible in the house;
4) The insurance of the home is lowered;
5) Helps to detects if there is gas problem or fire problem in house;
6) Cameras help to keep a look on the kids;
7) Improves the electricity management;
8) Keeps all the rooms in peace.

Disadvantages of Home Security System
There are many technical issues that may arise in using IT in home security service
(Vigneswari et al. 2015). The burglars always have some ways to avoid all the securities of a
home. The disadvantages are:
1) The alarms and the sensors are very expensive;
2) Installation time is much more, and there is always a risk of installation with the
people who installs it;
3) There is a chance of having a false alarm.
