Strategic information is very important in today’s market since it helps the organization
streamlines its business process and creates a conducive environment for better business
performance. There are various merits as well as demerits which comes with IT, however the
main question is can ICT system improve the business process?
 Assist With the Business Processes-The information system helps business to integrate
various system into a one whole system which helps in streamlining the business
process.(Alter, 2013).
 It helps the business cut the cost of operations-With introduction of ICT in the business,
the business will not require a large manpower to carries out its tasks since majority of
the tasks will be handled by the ICT system.
 Assist With the Making Decisions-A well-organized information system helps the
business to define its operations.
 It helps businesses predict future and plans for it, since the system will produce vital
information which can be analyzed and helps the business to predict its future operations.
There are numerous disadvantages of Information system in an organization which includes:
 The information system implementation process is time consuming-The process of
information system implementation in any organization usually takes time since ,the
workers must be trained on how to use the new system.
 The strategic information system also calls for skillful planning especially during
introduction. The business will have to plan for future as well as changes which might
along.
 The implementation process is very challenging as many experts will be involved in its
implantation and the organization has to deal with resistance to change in the business.
 The process is also expensive-The whole process is very costly as a lot of devices must
be purchased.
