In the modern business environment where the competition is higher and is throat cutting
it is important for the firms to become digital. It helps in reducing its operational complexity as
well as the cost that is spend on its activities (Bone and et. al., 2016). There are several
technological advancements that are used by the firm especially in information and technology
so as to make its operations easier. One such kind of operations is management of the data and
knowledge that is generated by the activities of the firm. This can be done using software,
information system, machineries etc. There is no operation that is unaffected from the reach of
information and technology. It helps in management of many kinds of activities such as
communication, data and information. To understand the influence and effectiveness of the
information technology in the larger firm company that is taken in this regard is Honda. It is one
of the largest auto mobile company that deals in the business of making several types of vehicles
like scooters, bikes etc. It is known for for its use of technological advanced production system.

For instance, other objective of Honda is to keep track of all of their actions that they
have done so that they can do modifications in that in the case of any need. IT system can help

technology.
Honda next objectives is to manufacture innovative products and services and this can be
done by the use of modern system that is Artificial Intelligence and Big data analytics.

knowledge it can be highly useful (Barlett, 2016). When the firm has large number of
organisational units which is operated in several parts of the world, it becomes important for
them to use measures that will ensure that all the data, information or knowledge collected from
the various activities at these places must be available to every one. The IT system that can be
used is as follows:
 Storage devices such as USB: There are several small devices that are used in the firm
for storing and manipulation of data. The data that is of smaller size can be stored in it.
One of the biggest advantage of this technology is that it is useful for carrying data from
one place to another. It Honda company it can be used for the storage of confidential data
or in the board meetings where one needs to be transferred to some place.

storing information, data and other things. It is one of the conventional approaches that is

 Central data storage: There is a big problem that arises in larger firms such as Honda
that they are operational in many parts of the world and collecting data from their
activities is a difficult process. For example if the sales manager sitting at the central
office wants to have access to the sales record that is generated in some other units in
other parts of the globe. This problem I effectively solved for making use of IT systems.
Making use of internet can be helpful in getting the data. For this purpose cloud storage
or data ware houses can be highly beneficial. Centralised system of data reduces two very
big problem first is data redundancy and second is data overloading which creates space
complexity for the firm.
 Retrieval of data: One of the biggest problem that is related to the organisation is that

 Complexity of data storage: There are various kinds of complexities that makes data
unusable, this system is helpful in resolving this. IT system helps in reducing the
complexities related to management of communication as well as data. For example If the
Honda financial department has to make several calculations then the company can make
use of data manipulation and mining software that makes the whole process easier. When
done manually accumulation and query generated result is hard to be obtained. It is also
that firm cannot install data warehouses at every of its units so for less important data it
can make use of cloud system.
