Review of requirements in developed design
Due to the demands that each implementation created for controlling smart home equipment, the
layout created by the other members centred on smart home command and activities for a
customer have been evaluated. Certain conditions, such as developing three distinct applicable
areas, lacked safety and video surveillance of the full building and various regions. It is a major
failure in this implementation and has not been able to provide customers with stronger features.
Reviews according to the Requirements
1. Control panel development to use smart system.
Comment: There is no mentioned control panel in the design.
Reasoning: No control panel is detected in the mockups of this interface. This was the first
requirement from the case study of the Home security application that a clearly mentioned
control panel should be there to complete requirement.
2. Electronic locks that can control house access.
Comment: Developed interfaces fulfil this requirement.
Reasoning: Electronic locks are mentioned as Door Locks in the design which can be used to
lock several rooms and spaces.

3. Video surveillance system should be there
Comment: Developed interfaces somehow fulfil requirement.
Reasoning: Camera surveillance should be used in this manner that it can be controlled as well
using the home security application but it hasn’t any surveillance system control in the
application prototype.
4. Lightning control in several areas.
Comment: Developed interface somehow satisfies requirement.
Reasoning: The design has the controls for the lights but it doesn’t have particular option to
change the areas for control. Only living room light control can be accessed.
5. Air conditioning control in the home security application.
Comment: Developed interface doesn’t satisfy requirement.
Reasoning: Interface doesn’t have a particular air condition system control by which ACs of any
room can be controlled. Although the interface has AC controls in the temperature section but
not defined clearly. New user won’t be able to identify the options or change rooms.
6. Adding devices to Wi-Fi system.
Comment: Developed interface fulfils the requirement.
Reasoning: Design has the option to choose any device to add to the home security application
system using the Home Wi-Fi
7. Adding devices to SMARTHome panel.
Comment: Developed interface fulfils the requirement.
Reasoning: Design has the option to choose any device to add to the home security application
system.
8. New media devices controlling option.

Comment: Developed interface somehow fulfils the requirement.
Reasoning: The requirement is somehow fulfilled as the interface has the controlling option for
media devices but these systems don’t have particular control system like radio and TV controls
are same and no link to direct to music system control.
9. Environmental zones showing temperature of various rooms.
Comment: Developed interface doesn’t fulfil the requirement.
Reasoning: The layout doesn’t provide various areas over the application's primary command or
house display and did not provide three distinct areas through the application's primary power
board so that users can control the temperature of various described rooms like for cooling and
heating.
10. Zone temperature control using control panel.
Comment: Developed interface doesn’t satisfy the requirement.
Reasoning: Developed zone of temperature has specification of rooms and their current
temperature but there is no control setup of room temperatures to maintain or direct link to go to
the control page.
Justification over complete/incomplete design
The complete design review was conducted according to the criteria identified for the
SmartHome implementation and their user control. The implementation has never demonstrated
or intended different criteria identified for the SmartHome app, and the customer has not been
able, through the app created, to execute those tasks.
List of incomplete requirements within the design
 No control over environmental zone temperatures.
 Environmental zone showing temperatures but no direct link to go to control options.
 Media device option without control panel.

 AC control option isn’t particularly labelled and rooms selecting option isn’t available.
 No separate light control options available with room selecting option.
 No control option available for camera surveillance like rooms selection, pause or control
options.
 Control panel screen not clearly defined.
Reason for incomplete requirements
All of the above-mentioned criteria mentioned in the unfinished part of the layout haven't been
adequately or lacking. SmartHome layout does not meet above criteria for the consumer and no
customer can accomplish certain duties such as AC command, introduction of fresh devices via
Wi-Fi, the introduction of fresh applications, temperature control for various rooms, and
numerous other applications which constitute one of the main features of the implementation of
specifications to change distinct smart products.

Design Clarity: Satisfied
The layout created by the other participant is transparent and easy, easy-to-understand features
for any fresh or experienced user, but there is uncorrected or meaningless data on some displays
created through the layout, which may be hard for multiple consumers to comprehend and to do
distinct activities on such displays.
Aesthetic Design: Unsatisfied
The general layout has been designed to monitor and handle various features for SmartHome
together with its customer interfaces. Different displays like kitchens, bathrooms, access rooms,
AC, etc. don't comply with the artistic screen layout and have various mistakes.

 No back button used.
 No labels are used to define some unknown symbols.
 Use of space on an interface screen is irrelevant.
 Many screens have no title just a symbol is used.
 Lack of aesthetic view and standards.
Reasoning
Many screens have some same common issues like the use of breadcrumbs is wrong as it is used
in the screen as back button instead of using it as breadcrumbs for the navigation process.
Alignment of various components is not according to the heuristic principle of both the aesthetic
design and the standard design.
d)
List of improvements
1. Design should be aesthetically improved.
Reasoning: Some displays have changes over the data, data that is meaningless, etc., which
reduce the accessibility and the value of the whole structure.
2. Use of breadcrumbs over the screen
Reasoning: Breadcrumbs are used for the previous navigation or for a path that is can direct to
the previous pages but here the breadcrumbs is used as back button that is wrong.
3. Linking is not good over some screens
Reason: Implementation of a right and accurate link over the various features on separate
displays provides the customer with greater command and liberty to conduct a distinct job, which
must be improved in the layout to comply with the principles of user control and liberty.
4. Correct use of space on-screen or pages

Reasoning: Use of irrelevant information is mentioned over some screens like using the next
button on every page that is totally irrelevant.
5. Correct use of components.
Reasoning: components that are used are without proper knowledge of using. Use of checkboxes,
buttons, and breadcrumbs is wrong at various pages. Like in the “Heating Device” page, no
proper controls are shown just checkboxes are used.
6. Use of Proper Titles.
Reasoning: To maintain the proper standards in the screen pages and to follow the principle of
recognition than recall, pages should have title or labels along with the symbols.

Recommendations
1. Recommendation: Some screens have modifications over the information, pointless
information, etc. which decrease the availability of the entire framework and its importance.
Priority: Significant
2. Recommendation: For past navigation or route to the past documents, breadcrumbs are
employed here but the real key is not. Breadcrumbs are also used for past navigation.
Priority: Significant
3. Recommendation: Increase the customer's order and freedom to perform different tasks by
establishing a correct and precise connection over the multiple characteristics on separate
screens, which must be enhanced in the design in accordance with user control and freedom
values.
Priority: Minor
4. Recommendation: Some displays mention the use of insignificant data, such as using the
“Next Button” on any page that is completely meaningless. Instead of this button process
button can be used.

Priority: Significant
5. Recommendation: Without adequate understanding of use, parts that are used. Check-boxes,
breadcrumbs and switches on several websites are not being used. Just like the "heating
device" section, no checkboxes are displayed.
Priority: Minor
6. Recommendation: Pages with signs should be given titles or marks to preserve the correct
requirements in display documents and respect the concept of acceptance rather than recall.
Priority: Significant

Part B
Heuristic Evaluation
After a good critical analysis for the model created to monitor the satisfaction of the needs of
SmartHome in the model created in an attempt to improve the layout to satisfy all demands and
provide a full layout for the customer, the full layout assessment was carried out on the grounds
of various values laid out by Heuristics. Various layout displays were assessed on the basis of 10
Heuristics values so that for correcting the full layout, distinct errors and mistakes can be
recognized depending on the usability of the user's implementation. It was performed in attempt
to verify whether or not the fundamental specifications of an intelligent apps control app were
fully met. Following is the assessment of heuristic principles and found out mistakes.
1. System Visibility
Found Issue: These are some significant variables for the effective layout of any implementation
so as to reflect the current status of a scheme and its activities which the customer does not
understand about a screen that is going on.
Issue location: Lightning screen, camera settings, Door locks.
A problem considering reason: on the lightening screen, bars are used for the light settings but
not in way that it is turning off or on the lights, the camera settings page is just showing setting
name, not their controls, door locks page has locks but not controls.
Minor issue
Remediation: all the system controls should be properly defined along with the labels so that user
can understand.
2. Matching of Real and System world.
Found Issue: The developed design did not provide the link between the SmartHome designs in
comparison to the real-world application.
Issue location: video control mode page, Door locks

Problem considering reason: in the video control mode page download record is written that
doesn’t match the criterion in which the system should download the record and indoor locks
page, radio buttons are used instead of using switches.
Minor significance of this issue.
Remediation: in the video control mode page, the download record should be specified with
downloading criteria like date and time and on door lock page switches should be used.
3. Freedom of user control.
Found Issue: The ability of the customer to execute a job that differs from the implementation as
required and regulates alternatives play an important part in ensuring efficient usability within
the implementation.
Issue location: almost on every page
Problem considering reason: This issue describe that user should be able to use the function of
the application with freedom and proper access but here some links are wrongly attached,
breadcrumbs use is wrong, no back button is used.
Significant significance of this issue.
Remediation: proper use of breadcrumbs, back button and titles should be there.
4. Standards and page consistency.
Found Issue: Design of a consistent application for the purposes of reducing confusion and
misunderstanding of users with regard to use and application functions.
Issue location: cooling device page, system settings page, system status page.
Problem considering reason: in these pages, the use of blank space is not perfectly done that
hampers the standards of the heuristic principle. Use of space with proper components like
button should be there.
Minor significance of this issue.
