Q1. What's going on?
The scenario is a simple change implication request to the developer by the client which the
developer agreed to do it without consulting with the project manager. The scenario had
resulted in highlighting the probability of social rift between the developer and project
manager. The client called the developer of the IT Company to modify the user interface of
the software and make it more user-friendly. The developer agreed to implement the
deployment of the user friendly interface for the software. The developer agreed to modify
the user interface for forming the completion of the software in the expected time duration.
The project manager asked about the call and the developer straightforwardly told him that
he had agreed to modify the user interface after talking with the client. The developer did
not consulted with his seniors before agreeing to the terms of changing the user interface as
asked by the client.
Q2. What are the facts?
The major facts that have impacted the project operations include the alignment of the
operations and forming the analysis of the operations and listing the configuration of the
improved functional and successive operations. The project is helpful for continuation of the
operations and formation of the improved software deliverable for the project. The main
problem in the scenario was that the developer agreed to the terms of customer without
consulting his seniors. The problem lies on the fact that communication of the operations
was not carried on by the developer where he should have talked to the seniors and
consulted with them for aligning the deployment of the successive improvement methods.

The major issues in the scenario rose due to the developer did not consulted with the
project manager before agreeing to the demands of customers. The alignment of the
operations had aligned with the modification of the successive deployment methods. The
communication of the requirement information to senior managers was crucial. There are
some protocols that should be followed in a project team. The developer ignored the
importance of consulting the matter to the seniors and directly agreed to the proposition of
modifying the user interface of the software developed for the client and it would result in
causing the rift between the managers and the developer.

The developer would be most affected by the scenario as he is the one who accepted to
modify the user interface. He did not consulted with his immediate superiors before
agreeing and it somehow showed his casualness approach while working. The client is also
affected by the scenario as the changes and modifications he required were accepted by the
developer. The developer accepted the changes and modification asked by the client and
hence the client was benefited by the scenario. The client has been benefited in this case as
his requirements for modifying and making the user interface more user-friendly has been
accepted by the developer. The project manager has got negative impact due to the
scenario as he has been overlooked by the developer. The scenario had affected all three
people mentioned directly.
Q5. What are the ethical issues and their implications?
The scenario had shown that an employee has overlooked his immediate seniors and it has
resulted in causing the issues in the deployment of the effective communication. The casual
nature of the employee is a major issue in the code of professional ethics for the business
organization. The employee should have followed the protocol of consulting with his
immediate superiors about the project. He should have forwarded the call to the project
manager so that the manager could have talked to the client himself. However, the
negligence of the employee had tended to cause the problem of miscommunication. The
project manager would not have been informed about the changes that the client asked for.
It also resulted in lack of information sharing and issue of miscommunication in the
organization.
Q6. What could have been done about it?
The employee should have transferred the call to the project manager and asked him to
deal with the client. The information sharing in an organization is done hierarchically and
hence the project manager should have acted as the medium for transferring the
requirements to the client. The client asked for the modification of the user interface of the
software developed to be more user-friendly. The project manager should have talked to
the client and asked for more details of the changes they wanted in the software user
interface.

There are two options that could be followed for overcoming the situation,

Concentric Decision Making Power: The decision of whether or not the changes should be
implied should be divulged only in the management and the steering committee of the
project. The developer should have asked to his senior management whether they could
afford the changes before agreeing to the client about the change implication.
Divulge Decision Making Power: The practice of divulge decision making power provides
the power to the developer whether he believes the implication of the changes for making
the software more user-friendly is feasible for the project. The project manager would have
accepted the decision as the power of decision making is divulged to the developer about
the change implication.
Q8. Which option is the best and why?
The option where the developer had transferred and asked the project manager whether
they could afford the changes before agreeing to the client about the change implication is
the best option. The project is based on multiple success criteria apart from quality such as
time and budget. The developer would have asked the project manager for a feasible
analysis of the operations.
