Introduction
Project scope management means the amount of work and resources used to complete any given
project in time. It is essential for the project to be accurately defined and mapped out before the
actual amount of work is done on it. The scope management of any project is done by the project
managers and team leaders who keep an eye on the work and make sure that all the essential
things required to carry out a project are delivered in a given time. For the successful completion
of any project, the project scope management is a critical task required to be done (Kerzner &
Kerzner, 2017).
If a project work requires the development of a product of an organization or a company for the
customers, then the process or the development phases through which the product will go
through will be called as the scope project management. To successfully execute a project using
the project scope management; it is essential to look into the various processes which complete a
project. These processes involve the budget required to complete the project, the planning,
control and monitoring and the resources available or required for that particular project. To
make a successful project the main things required are defining the need of the project and
understanding the objective of the project, doing this makes the project management very easy
(Too et al. 2017).
The process involved in Project Scope Management
The scope management of any project consists of many stages which the project goes through
before its completion. The scope management of a project could refer to any product or service
that is delivered to the customer by any organization and the amount of work and resources spent
in carrying out the project. There are three processes through which a project goes and then
finally comes out after its successful completion, which are mentioned below:
Planning
The planning phase is the essential part of any project as it is the initialization phase of the
project, and all the essential plans are to be made in this process. The work which is needed to be

project are defined here. The cost that might be required to finish a project at a particular time is
also mentioned in it, which is a good practice to keep the project in the budget (Lock, 2017).
Controlling
The controlling phase of the project is the one where the growth and the working of the project
are tracked in every step, and every element that is required to do a project is kept under
surveillance and total control. Whether it is the production of a particular product or service, or
even if it is the cost and budgeting of the project each and everything is looked into. If any
change is required in any part of the project, then that change is made after carefully looking into
the aspects of the project that require the particular change (Shirazi et al. 2017).
Closing
Closing is the last phase of any project of any organization, in this part of the project, a final
audit is made, and the assessment of the project is done. The main thing that is looked into in this
process is the final outcome of the project, which is then compared with the planned outcome of
the project. A project is only successful if the scope management is done for it is perfect, and the
result after applying all the types of management techniques is similar to the expected result.
Purpose of Scope Management
Scope management is the most important of the Project management technique. The main
purpose of the scope management of any project is that it provides all the details and is
responsible for the successful running of any project. The reason behind it is that the scope
management provides the products, services, and results of any project that is undergoing in any
organization. The scope in project management determines how well the project will be executed
and what steps are to be involved in the better implementation of any project (Sanghera, 2019).
The project scope management determines the various process and tools required to define the
scope of a project and to develop a scope statement of a project. The work breakdown structure
is also well defined in the scope management along with the other scope verification activities.
However, the most basic and important purpose of the scope management is to describe how the
project will be controlled by the project managers and the team members by using the scope
management activities to control the particular project of any organization (Gordon et al. 2018).

Conclusion
The scope management implementation should be done by all the organizations for the
successful completion of any project. The implementation of the scope management is not very
difficult, but it does require much time, patience as well as hard work. If any organization wants
to implement their product or their services successfully, then it is important to use the scope
management techniques for it. There is not much investment in the project scope management,
but whatever the investment is, it is worth all that. The reason behind it is that the use of scope
management helps in giving a better overview and result of any proposed project of an
organization. The cost required to run a project and the possible profits that may be earned by the
organization through that project is also looked upon by the scope management, which covers all
the investment that was done in implementing the scope management (Heldman, 2018).
The report describes and defines the project scope management, its purpose, and why
implementing the scope management is important for any organization. All the process involved
in the successful implementation of the project are mentioned in the report, and it gives a brief
insight into the techniques and methods used in project management. Hence, it proves that
project scope management is an important tool required for the success of any project.
