Environmental Data Analysis Project using BI Tools, Semester 3

This project utilizes descriptive and prescriptive analysis to address environmental damage through a business intelligence dashboard. The report examines carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption, using a business evaluation methodology. Executive Summary
In this project we shall be making use of the Descriptive and Prescriptive analysis and
use the results for tackling the issue of Environment damage and how it is affecting our
planet Earth, by making use of Dashboard, which is a very powerful business
Intelligencetool. We shall be making this report on the study and research work done on
Carbon Dioxide and Energy consumption and its effect on the environment by using a
business evaluation methodology with a creative analytical point.
Real time study and analysis shall be carried out and identification of the primary
execution markers will be carried out to assist the dashboard with all the outcomes and
steps to improve the protection of our environment.

1. Introduction
Global Warming. A term frequently heard and used in today’s world. So, what is
Global Warming? The unnatural heating up of our planet due to the excessive increase
of the trapped thermal energy caused by the various “Greenhouse” gases including
carbon dioxide By making use of some very good methods like Prescriptive
examination and Descriptive examination, we shall use the Dashboard to represent our
project about these environmental problems. Students shall be encouraged to use the
innovativeness of SAP Business Object or Predictive Analytics application to create
investigation plans for the testing business analysis. The idea of using the above tool is,
to pinpoint the real problems facing the environment problems and getting a positive
acknowledgment with response all being carried out by the use of the Dashboard tool.
With the problem lying in the energy consumption, focus shall be to highlight and have a
in-depth look at the environmental issues by utilizing logical tools to make analytical
observations and outcomes. The most important factors that are influencing the
changing environment today are,

climatic changes which will head into a crisis situation.
By the aid of the Dashboard tool and its features like execution markers, we shall
present this report with evaluation on the basis of descriptive and prescriptive methods
to highlight the excessive overuse of CO2 gas and is harmful effect on the environment
and ultimately on our Planet.
2. Problem Statement
The biotic and abiotic surroundings for us and also the environment in particular
have been severely affected by our actions which had led to the over emission of the
CO2 gas in the environment. This has caused all major problems like Global Warming
and we still have not been able to grasp the gravity of this problem.

This Research paper has tried to highlight this issue of over emission of CO2 gas,
its ill affects to the environment, animals, planets and us. Lot of expectations is from the
various Governments, Environment organizations, Corporate world, Business
community and people like us to step and give remedies and take concrete steps to
reduce this burden on the planet. Awareness about the high energy usage and how this
causes problems to the planet has to be highlighted on various Medias. With the help of
the Dashboard tool this can be displayed in a graphical manner for easy understanding

3. Environmental Issues
As our planet is being threatened and abused by the various ill-effects of human
activities, it is vital to get to the root of all these issues. Global warming is one of the
factors contributing to the problem but, there are far greater threats affecting more to the
environment. And we have been ignorant of this. Like high energy usage which is a
major threat to the increasing temperature and warming of our planet. The problem is
that global warming has been affected by all these activities being carried out all over
the world, some being minor and some larger. We have to take positive actions to
minimize these dangerous factors so as to reduce their impact or else the day won’t be
far off when our planet will be in total Environmental crisis.
Individuals and families have to come together and start with taking steps to
reduce this harm to the nature. Like reduction of the Ozone layer. This can be done by
less use of vehicles, harmful chemicals and gases etc. ("Business Intelligence
Dashboard", 2018). There can be a marked improvement and reduction of these

harmful substances that affect the concentration of the Ozone Layer. Coming together
to make positive changes, from all of us and the families will see a much better and
concentrated Ozone layer Protection than what it is at present level.
4. Effect of Carbon dioxide’s Use on the Environment
Government has been trying from its side to raise awareness and distribute the
knowledge as to how the CO2 emissions from day to day activities have been affecting
the environment structure, families, society, animals, businesses etc. Taking a cue from
this, there are a number of organizations contributing and researching to find solutions
as to how to minimize the CO2emissions in to the atmosphere, as part of their social
responsibility (Living, 2018).
The top level executives and the management team has to consider and develop
the regard chain with factors like, inbound/ outbound coordination's, marketing,
assignments and various offer benefits. The factors that will contribute to the potential
climatic changes can be the outburst in the regard chain which is basically due to the

the fundamental extent of benefits. Will it be beneficial to start with $10 for each ton of
release or will it be an essential part for new cases?With the quantity of CO2 emissions
being released into our atmosphere by the outcome of individuals and organizations,
the danger signs have already been reached. Called as “Carbon Footprint”, it is an
important tool to measure the impact on the planet. Individuals, families, institutes and
industry in general should work towards reducing their Carbon footprints by planting
more trees, using fewer vehicles, less energy usage etc.

activities. The channels, customers and the supplier firms should encourage new
releases along with the developing quick control by the organization. Organization along
with their partners should understand the importance of creating essential results. With

not work in the practical world as there are simply more extravagant releasesunder the

accessed, like:

ideal energy source, the following factors have to be considered,

 Reduction in the ozone-reducing elements/ gases/ substances.
 Economically it can benefit the nation as employment will increase for
establishing this new technology.
 Should give better security and quality by its usage.
5. BI Reporting Solution with Analytics
5.1 Prescriptive Analysis
Prescriptive analytics is utilized to find the best result or outcome among various
choices, given the known parameters by making use of the successful results and then,
restricting and rebuilding them. The right direction and plan is developed by taking these
specific outcomes and getting a more effective, adaptive and sensible solution. The
issue and the problem will be solved amicably by this analysis method as it also gives
the reason and the logic as to how it came to the final conclusion.
Dashboard
The Business Intelligence Dashboard tool on a website makes it possible to give
a visual display of all the Key Performance Indicators and other vital parameters from
the analysed data of the organization. Used by the top management for future planning

and effective outcomes, with practical methods to achieve the same. Using multiple
tools and procedures (e.q discerning execution declaring system), the result and the
display are pre-verified before they are sent to the graphic display.

48.00B KWh is the total usage and $47.97B is the total arrangements which are
represented in the above dashboard. The Dashboard also gives the figures for the force
cuts and ordinary length of power cuts along with the division arrangements with the
required figures in the display. The Dashboard also has other vital information like a pie
chart depicting all the energy sources like coal, natural gas, nuclear energy and
renewable. The data was collected for a period of 1 year, from Jan’2016 to Dec’2016.
The other bar chart gives the information about the sector wise consumption of this
energy like, industry, private, traffic and others.
5.2 Descriptive Analysis
They are the simpler type of analysis method, using the simplest data features for

evaluation, analysis based on the simple graphs, filtering the rough data and are the
base for any of the data quantitative analysis. A more clear understanding and clear
approach is given by this analysis results ("Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive
Analytics Explained", 2018). Same as a “A year”, this analysis clarifies the “A minute"
time, passed off as a year. Assisting the customers to know the basic elements of the
diverse purpose of the test, they make the difference by utilizing the past behavior. The
future of the outcome shall be decided by the effective acknowledgment of this
