ITECH7410 Software Engineering: State Transition Diagram - Toothbrush

This assignment presents a state transition diagram for the Oral-B Braun 5000 electric toothbrush, developed using Draw.io. The diagram details the toothbrush's functionality and its interaction with the SmartGuide, covering aspects such as battery check, charging, power on/off, brushing modes (daily clean, gum care, deep clean, tongue cleaning, whitening, sensitive), pressure sensor, Bluetooth connectivity, clock setting, and timer. SOFTWARE METHODOLGOY

-Battery check: it is used to check whether the battery full or low and it must be connected to
the charger to further use this device
-Connect charger: it is used when the battery of 5000 electric toothbrush was low
-Toothbrush on: this function is used to switch on the electric toothbrush
-Brushing mode: this function is used to start the brush
-Daily clean mode: this function is used to select various modes like gum care, deep clean,
tongue cleaning, whitening, sensitive
-Gum care: it is to intimate the amount of gum
- Deep clean: this function is selected to do a deep clean using this brush
-Tongue cleaning: this function is selected to start tonguing cleaning
-Whitening: this is used for whitening teeth
-Sensitive: this function intimate us about the tooth sensitivity while using this electronic
toothbrush
-Pressure sensor: this function is used to alert as while we put more force to the teeth
-Install oral B application to the phone: initially we have to install the oral B application on
our mobile device for this electric toothbrush
-Power on the brush and enable Bluetooth: we have to power on the brush and the
Electric toothbrush must be connected via Bluetooth technology
-Set clock: we have to set a timer in our connected mobile devices
-Pressure sensor display: it is used to display alert signals when we are putting more pressure
on our teeth
-Timer: it is used to show the remaining time

We are using Draw io software to develop our state transition diagram
State transition diagrams (Sommerville, 2011) ("State Transition Diagrams", 2018) ("State
transition diagrams", 2018) are drawn below.
The state transition diagram contains circles and directed lines. The circle is used to represent
states. The directed lines are used to represent transitions between two states. For each transition
there may be more than one action or output. The transition is given as input and for
each event the machine transit from one state to another state.
The major events in this electric toothbrush are daily clean mode, brushing mode, smart guide
screen.

First, we have to install oral B application on our device. Then the oral B electric toothbrush
must be connected to the device through Bluetooth wireless technology. We have to switch
on our toothbrush, when we switch on the brush a smart guide screen will appear on the
connected device. The following the function like set clock, pressure sensor display, timer.
Set clock is used to adjust time, the pressure sensor display is used to emit red sensor light
when be putting more force on the teeth, a timer is used to set timer for brushing mode. Then
they have to select any functions from daily clean mode. There are five different modes like
gum care, deep cleaning, whitening, tongue cleaning. After selecting one of the functions
from deep clean mode and then the brushing mode is started. After completion the electronic
brush will automatically switch off. The pressure sensor indicator is switch on when more
pressure on our teeth.

Brushing tooth and flossing are the two main oral care. We must use the correct method to
brush our Teeth. Flossing is used to promote our health for the long term. We should spend
two to three minutes to brush each section of our mouth. The electronic toothbrush does
gentle and efficient cleaning. It is working with rotation oscillation. According to a 2005
independent study, a quote says following
The rotating brush will provide better results while considering with a normal tooth brush. This
brush will provide movement and we only need to guide the brush. The rotational movement is
done by the circuit present in the brush. This electric brush will spent of a few seconds on each
surface .This brush will remove more plaque from our teeth. We should charge this brush.
Initially we must install an oral B application in our mobile .The toothbrush is connected with
Mobile devices using Bluetooth technology There are five modes in this electronic toothbrush.
The modes are gum care, deep clean, tongue cleaning, whitening and sensitive. The gum care
function will help us to concentrate more on gum inside the teeth. Deep cleaning is a must for
all people those who not maintain the teeth properly, so deep cleaning is an important and
efficient function .tongue is the important feature of the human body without it we cannot taste
anything and eat properly. The tongue is helpful for our speech.so we must properly clean our
tongue periodically. The sensitive function is useful those person who have sensitivity in their
teeth.
First, we have to apply the tooth paste on the top of the brush. We have to set the timer in the
connected device to the electronic brush. The electric tooth brush contains a default timer of
two minutes. The two minute timer is allotted because it is divided into four parts for each
quadrant.
The part of mouth can be divided into 4 Quadrants. The parts are inner surface, outside
surface, chewing surface, back surface. We must brush gums as well As teeth. The most

affected quadrant part is the chewing surface. The user must concentrate the chewing surface a
lot and maintain it properly. This device is very useful and effective to use. It covers each Luke
and corner of our mouth. This electronic brush has a gum care pressure control system. Which
alert us when we are Brushing very hardly. The head of the brush must be changed regularly
every 3 months. We should brush our teeth at least two minutes twice a day. This tooth brush
has a waterproof handle so this electronic brush is safe and designed for the use in bathroom.
The waterproof handle will protect us from shock. So this device is easy to handle and use. The
oral B Braun electric tooth helps to keep our teeth and tongue healthier.
