INTRODUCTION
Motivation is a desire which inspire an individual to perform in an action based manner
which helps in fulfilling the needs and wants of person. Motivation is the term which is traced
form the tidings “motive” which shows the necessity and requirements of individual. It is the
mental term which is divided under three phases which are determination of necessity,
stimulation in which want develop and expiation regarding the attainment of requirements (Shi
and Cristea, 2016). Motivation can be done by two types either inside or outside as inside
consider the inward desire which encourages an individual and outside is performed by the
managers and leaders which encourage the workers to attain their specific score and objectives.
This report is based on the motivational techniques which are used in the context of Jack Stores
as it assist in helps in holding and enhancing the productivity of an organisation. Jack Store is the
discount store of TESCO which is opened against the rivals of Aldi and Lidl and this store
named after the name of founder of TESCO, Jack Cohen. Here, motivational explanation are
obdurate with its benefits and drawbacks as it depends on the perspective of HR to prompt an
individual.
MOTIVATIONAL THEORIES
There are different explanation of encouragement which influences the performance of
workers and they represents the needs and wants of individuals and how it can be satisfied. For
this, motivation is very helpful because it motivates employees which leads to increase their

challenging task easy for employees and for this, motivational explanation are as follows:
Maslow's Need of Hierarchy Theory
This concept is termed as the almost used and well known hypothesis to inspire workers
because it depict the primary needs in systematic way which is degraded to advanced. For this,
Maslow believe that once the needs of human being is satisfied then in future it would not
motivate employees because it is no longer become the need. These necessities are categorized
nether five key factors that are as under:

Psychological needs: These wants are termed as the primary needs of manlike being
which are purely represented by Maslow which consider nutrient, apparel, water, air and
different related factors of life. These wants are related with the endurance of manlike
and their needs (Cook and Artino Jr, 2016). In context of Jack Stores, managers
encourage their employees by satisfying their primary wants which helps in providing

shelter and other facilities to those workers who are not localized and also useful in rising
their overall public presentation and retaining them. Safety needs: It include the security and safety factor which is concerned with physical,
economic etc. These wants are evaluated by the manager of Jack Stores to accomplish the
requirement of workers (Lichtenberg, Lachmann and Fosshage, 2016). From the view
point of employees, their safety needs include the security of job and it is satisfied by the
manager of Jack Store. It include signing the written agreement with workers which
states the minimal employed period of time and policies regarding the employment. Social needs: This component is obsessed with the affection and belongingness and also
satisfies the interpersonal relationship which is used in motivating the behaviour of
employees. As per this need, employees only want appreciation from their managers. In
terms of Jack Stores, their director socially recognise their workers by screening love,
respect and affection towards them and also building healthy relationship with them. Esteem needs: These wants depicts the respect and self-pride of individual which
consider the confidence and achievement of person (Brown and Capozza, 2016). In
relation with employees, they only want respect and recognition which can easily satisfy
their needs. Self-Actualisation needs: It is the final step of Maslow hierarchy needs, as individual
determine and analyse their own achievement like what they did in their career as overall
employees analyse their potential. This need is performed by employees itself and only
when the person become efficient to determine its achievement. Here, the role of
manager is to set high standards in order to analyse the competence and also push
individuals to determine their potential.
Advantages
It is useful for leaders as it helps in satisfying the needs and requirements which is
identified as step by step analysis. It helps in providing the total compact of primary wants of individuals to director from
topmost to lowermost which is used in accomplish the requirements in suitable way (Shi
and Cristea, 2016).
Disadvantages

By determining the self-actualisation wants, this need can become drawback because
workers feel low or demotivated when unsure duties are delegated to them.
This explanation is not suitable in order to examine the gratification of employees.
Herzberg's Two Factor Theory Hygiene Factor: This factor is useful in providing positive satisfaction to employees for
the yearner fundamental quantity of time and if this component is absent then it can
develop dissatisfaction among employees (Gopalan and et. al., 2017). By considering this
component, director of Jack Stores has different structure to encourage their employees
like by giving them fringe benefits, increment in payments and many more which are
favourable for workforce. This factor is important as it clearly stipulate the job functions
to workers and does not dissatisfied them. Motivational Factor: This component is present by born from individual as it helps in
motivating the workers to execute in appropriate way (Cook and Artino Jr, 2016). For
this, director of Jack stores use different psychological feature component in order to
encourage their employees like by providing promotions, appreciation etc. which helps in
motivating employees towards the achievement of desired goals.
Advantages
By considering this explanation, monetary system is advised as special thing as various
components such as publicity, acknowledgement etc. are also beneficial to boost the
morale of employees (Lichtenberg, Lachmann and Fosshage, 2016). It focuses on rising the level of motivation as it assist in improving the job contentment
by using various methods.
Disadvantages
It oversees the covariant of conditions because it co-relate with productivity and
performance.
The dependability of this explanation is unsure and for this, determination is done in
different styles.

increase the overall performance of employees and also useful in boosting the morale of
