INTRODUCTION
Motivation is the process to encourage the employees in order to achieve the
organisational goal and objectives effectively. The present report is based upon Jack stores which
is going to be launched by Tesco(Duchardt and et., al., 2019). Entity is consider as the leading
retail company in UK. In order to compete the market firm have to offer discounts and come up
with the new idea of offering product and services at the minimum price. Further this report
encompasses the overview of motivation and role of the company. Further to improve the
motivation level firm must use theories as this help in providing better insight to encourage the
employees.
Motivation and its Importance
Motivation is the process of driving force which makes individual to complete the task as
per the organisational aims and objectives. The firm which are working across the global use
motivation as the tool to improve the level of productivity and the performance deliver by the
employees. When the firm improve the quality of service this build create the brand image in the
minds of employees as the motivation help in gaining these targets in the shorter time
span(Gillison and et., al., 2019). As the result they relay upon the organisational resources and
help in achieving corporates goals in the well define manner.
Theories of Motivation
Tesco is a British retail management organisation which leads in the domestic market
over the decade. This is has been identified by the organisation that rivals offer better services
to the consumer which create more competition in the existing market. In result this has become
an emerging trend for Tesco to maintain the market position. The companies like ALDI and
LIDL have become the choice of user over the period of time due to effective pricing policies in
the organisation.
By looking the situation the firm have decided to launch Jack store in coming future.
This can be the discounted stores which are introduced in UK with the view to enhance the sales
of the company. ALDI and LIDL have specialising the provision of offering product at low price
which help in attracting more and more customers in the well define manner. In this scenario the
firm wants that the staff at the new stores are motivated so that revenue and profit of the

corporations can rise the entity and maintain the top position in the industry. For this Purpose,
Jack store has decided to execute the Mashlow and Herzberg theory which help in achieving the
aims as well as objective of the company.
Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory
This is the theory which is widely use to understand the importance and the needs of the
employees. This further aid the enterprise to identify the motivation level of the person and also
the factors which help in determining the driving forces of the company(Saperstein and et., al.,
2020). This theory has been applied in by the management of the Jack stores in order to satisfy
the needs and wants of the employees working in the organisation. The need and belonging
theory has been explained in relation of Jack stores:
Physiological Needs: This is the first stage which describe the level of basic needs such
food, shelter and clothing. The management of Jack store should make sure that employees get
these basic need as this provide motivation for work. The company should provide basic needs
such as accommodation and cab services to the employees.
Safety and Security Needs: The need determine the Mashlow pyramid would be
managed and fulfilled by the management of Jack store which help in providing medical as well
insurance to employees. Hence this will develop a sense of belongingness which develop
motivation in the minds of employees.
Social Needs: This stage consists of love and belongingness of friends and family as the
management of Jack store should make sure about social needs of the employees and organise
social gathering as this motivate the employees to achieve the goal in the well define manner.
Therefore to motivate employees firm should manage to gather such kind of gathering as this
maintain positive environment in the organisation
Esteem Needs: It is the Mashlow pyramid which consist of need and the self esteem and
self respect. This can be identified the by recognising the hard work of the employees in the
organisation. For the company like Jack store to treat employees with respect and dignity which
encompasses self esteem of the employees.
Self-Actualisation Needs: It is consider as the last stage of theory which encompasses the
needs of the employees and the self development. Such kind of need can be fulfilled by
providing training course such as of self discipline to achieve the organisational goal.

Herzberg theory of motivation
This is the theory of motivation which is also known as two factor theory which describe
about the motivation at the workplace. These factor are motivators and Hygiene factor as
motivators help in encouraging the employees to achieve the common goal. Where as Hygiene
factor empower the employees to work harder as if there is absence of these factor the employee
will not work harder to achieve the aims and objectives of the company. Apart form this Jack
store should use motivation theory in achieving the organisational goals in effectively manner.
The employees must have sense of achievement as this provide proud feelings to
complete the task which is worth while and also aid to firm bring out the maximum out put from
the employees. Further this provide recognition and also increase the rate of success Jack store.
However hygiene factor assist in developing better relationship with employees which lead to
success. Further this help achieving the target effectively and improve the productivity of the
firm.
Jack store should ensure that employees must avail proper benefits such as incentives,
bonus and appraisal as this help in motivating the employees to achieve the organisational goal
in the well define manner. The main advantage of motivating theory is that it encourage the
employees to work hard towards the common goal. The major drawback of such kind of theory it
is not applicable to every employees and they have different needs and requirement.
CONCLUSION
As per the above sated report this has been identified that, motivation is an essential
elements which help in motivating the workers to complete the task in effectively way. Along
with this, it has been acknowledged that motivation provide support to boost the moral of the
employees and the Mashlow and Herzberg model help in providing insight for growth and
betterment of the enterprise.
