Introduction
The human resources play an essential and vital role in the growth and decision-making process
of the company. Here the Tesco Company is willing to start a new store name Jack where the
management wants to have a friendly and happening culture so the authority ants to have
motivated employees for which certain theories will be applied.
Motivation is the concept or can be understood as the reason by which a person reacts to a
situation with his own will and wish. This is a very important concept in the present time; it has
been understood that in an organisation the role of motivational activities is very high. This is
understood to be the factor which is assisting the employees to get influenced positively.

Motivation theory
The motivation approach is nowadays commonly used, and this will be helping the employees to
carry out the work in the best effective possible manner. There are different motivational theories
that Tesco Company can also use effectively so that the employees can get motivated and
improve their performances in the appropriate and required way.
Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Theory
The need hierarchy model is very important and beneficial in the company as with this the
identification of the needs and requirements of the employees can be analysed effectively and
appropriately. Maslow has drawn few needs and requirements of the people who will help them
to get motivated in the company to do any work effectively. According to this theory, there are
five stages of need fulfilment which will motivate the employees in the company to meet up with
the challenges and the company's needs (Ozguner and Ozguner, 2014). All the stages as per the
level if get obtained timely then the performance of the employees will also be able to get
attained in an effective and most desired manner.

The first and the basic need has of any individual is the food, shelter cloth and education,
Maslow has categorised this as the physiological needs. Tesco Company must know and
understand that there are people in the company working whose basic needs are to attain the
physiological needs. Therefore the company's management needs to make sure that the
employees are availed with the benefits which are availing them to attain the basic needs. The
safety and security of an organisation are very important (Ozguner and Ozguner, 2014). The
employees of the company will be considering that they get a secured and safe position in the
company which will make them satisfied at their level. The third need required by the individual
is the social needs, here the person will be maintaining good relations and will start new bonds
with the people surrounding to him.
The esteem need are those requirements which will be assisting the employee of the company get
recognition and well position which is his level to attain success and growth. At last, the self-
actualisation is the process where the person will be doing certain activities which will help in
maintaining the attain position and will take steps which will make him be what it has attained
for his retention in the achievements (Datta, 2014).
The theory is beneficial as well as it has a negative impact when it is not implied in the
appropriate and effective required manner. The benefits are the employees will be satisfied
contributing in the growth and will assist I meeting the standards. At the same time, the negative
impact will be that the employees will resist any change and will not support if they are not
satisfied.
For example, A labour at the store will not be thinking of a promotion or any position; he will
be concerning more about the pay which will assist in meeting their daily basic needs. Therefore
Tesco Company needs to fulfil the physiological needs.
Herzberg two factor theory
This is another very important and major methods and theory which is used by the organisation
to meet the needs and requirements of the employees by making them motivated with the several
factors and required elements. According to this motivation theory, there are two major factors
which are having a great impact on the behaviour and Woking pattern of the employees. This

will be helping the organisation in meeting the set standards and objectives in an effective and
desired manner. The two factors which are involved in this theory are-

As mentioned in the diagram these are the two factors which are acting as the motivational
elements in the company for the employees. It is very important for the company to make sure
that the employees are doing satisfied and happy from the working culture of the Tesco
Company (Herzberg, 2017). The motivational factors are the one where the level of satisfaction
is highly present and the employees in the company will also get satisfied and will be able to
fulfil their needs and required. The motivation factors are the recognition, responsibilities,
growth and many more will satisfy the employees at the workplace.
The hygiene factor is another element which plays an essential role in the motivation of the
employees in the company. The absence of a hygiene factor will make the employees
demotivated and will affect the employee's morale. Therefore, it is very important for the
management of the Tesco Organisation to make sure that the hygiene factor should be present
and must satisfy the needs and requirements of the company (Alshmemri, et. al., 2017).
The benefits it provides is satisfied employees but the labours many time do not get the actual
working culture because of the external factors which are influencing the morale of them.
Example: The counter boy who is attending the customers at bill section if founds dirt and
unhygienic surrounding will not be putting his best in his work. Therefore, it is important for the

Conclusion
It has been understood that the Tesco Company need to use the best motivational approach so
that it can be able to motivate and satisfy the employees and this will also help the company to
meet its set standards. The two major motivational theories have been used by the Tesco
company which s help to be the most suitable for the motivation of the employees to make them
do the work in an effective and needed way.
