Jackson Paul Pollack at the age of eighteen left his hometown to become an artist. He
quickly enrolled with Arty Students League, where Thomas Hart Benton became his mentor. He
explained that Pollack had an intense sense of art; he had the ability to create unique pieces of art
due to his understanding of rhythmical relation and intuition while creating something
(moma.org (2020).). He interests me because he brought a change in the field of art by his
representation of abstract sculpting. He was driven and passionate, which can be clearly
understood by the materials he used, he was vulnerable while portraying his art which he
represented by using clay, wax, basted brushes and syringes to bring out the life of his art.
Abstract art intrigues people; it contains meaningful ideas, which leads to imagination. Jackson
Pollack’s paintings were unorthodox, the technique he specially used defying the odds of society
to express his feelings and ideas to a broader audience.
6. On the Internet, locate one piece of the artist's work that is not found in Introduction to
Art. Then—IN YOUR OWN WORDS—fully describe its media (form/materials) and
content (meaning/story). Include the full website where you found the piece.
The “Scent and Search” painting were the last artwork done by Jackson Pollock in the
year 1955 before his death. This painting also represents abstract artwork, and are done by using
oil paintings. He generally used oil paintings on his canvas, and the paintings were nor typically
done by smooth brushes, but includes uses of wall painting brushes, color are poured and
splattered, with some layered brushwork. The website that the artwork is displayed is
