With the growth and development in the industrial sector, it leads towards the growth and
development of the country. In this context, this report consists the detailed explanation along
with the introduction of Jaguar and detailed explanation of the operations and operations
management of the Jaguar by explaining Taylor’s theory of management by briefly mentioning
the Six Sigma for control the efficiency. It also consists the principles and implementation of the
operational management principles. It also consists the implementation of the operation
management in the context of the Six Stigma methodologies.

1.1 Introduction to Jaguar.
In the UK, the manufacturing and service industries grow at a rapid speed that transforms their
method of production processes. Jaguar is the brand of the luxury vehicle which belongs to the
manufacturer of the multinational car. This company headquarter is located at Whitley,
Coventry, England. This company belongs to the manufacture of Jaguar cars.
In the Year 1990, the Ford acquired the cars of Jaguar sold both Jaguar and Land Rover to the
company Tata Motors. Both the company uses the facilities of joint design in the centers of
engineering at Whitley in Coventry.
This business at its leading edge by leaving the competition behind and the main and key
ingredients of this process of change is to an emphasis on creating the system of total quality that
involves getting production stage at right time and simplify the system of manufacturing.
In today era, the plant of Halewood is dedicated to producing the type of new Jaguar named X
Type. This car belongs to the car of the 21s century which is the result of a programme of
massive research. It includes the designers of cars, marketers, engineers that fulfill the needs and
expectation of the customer in each and every stage of development of the car. This plant
guarantees the performance of world class.
In the year 1960 of February, the site of the Halewood quickly establishes the car manufacturing
and also produces the body panels. In the early stage, the Ford purchase Jaguar to produce the
panels for body cars of Jaguar. In the year 1998, the new Jaguar of X Type replaces the
production of Ford Escort.

1.2 An explanation of operation and operations management
Operations management is those business practices that help in creating the highest efficiency
level that creates the highest efficiency level in the organization. It helps in profit maximization
by converting the materials into services and goods efficiently and effectively. An explanation in
regarding the operation and operations management are explained with the help of Taylor’s
theory of scientific management (Thompson, 2017). This theory focuses towards the duties and
responsibilities of the organization towards the work, employees and its fellowmen. The main
principles of this theory are mentioned below:
The replace of thumb work method that is based on the scientific method
Selection and trained based scientifically so as to develop the worker
Enhance cooperation with the workers by using the scientifically developed methods
Equal division of work between the workers and managers
Flexible specialization- This strategy adopts by the company to make the business competitive
and consist with the possession of the multiple skills. This strategy assists the company to adopt
the fast-changing world and the environment of the business.
Mass Communication- This method helps in exchanging information between wide ranges of
people by spreading the relevant information with the greater speed.
Agile manufacturing- This method assists in the creation of processes, training, and tools so as
to quickly respond to the needs of the customers and the changes of the market to control the cost
and quality.
The six sigma methodology assists in eliminating the waste of eight kinds such as Defects,
overproduction, transportation, inventory, extra-processing, Non-utilised talent, waiting and
motion (Gawande, 2018).

1.3 Conduct a review and critique of how Jaguar have implemented the principles of
operations management
There are several principles that are requiring implementing the management of operations. As
per the given case study, these principles are mentioned below:
Reality- These principles state that the operation management must focus on the techniques and
problems to get the universal solution.
Fundamentals- This principle helps in maintaining records so as to achieve profits.
Variance- This source assists in to encourage productivity and creativity.
Managed passion- This source enhance the growth of the company and make the managers
more productive (Sreedharan and Raju, 2016).
Success- This source considers the customer’s interest that change over time.
Change- This source manages the stability in the long term.
Humility- In this process, the manager should acknowledge the limitation to the company.
Organization- This source assists in to achieve the profitability and productivity of the
company.
The abovementioned principles are implemented by the Jaguar in an effective and efficient
manner. The efficiency of plant productivity improved with the development of the new supplier
park. With the lean production the processes cut out duplication and the standards of waste are
identified in the best way this lead toward the continuous improvement. The capacity of the Hale
wood is at least 100,000 manufacturing vehicles per year.

1.4 Compare and contrast the implementation of Operations Management in relation to Six
Sigma methodology and Lean principles.
The six sigma methodology assists in eliminate the waste of eight kinds and improve the
performance in a systematic way by removing and eliminating the waste and also assist in
reducing the variation. This method assists in eliminating the six kinds of a waste. These include:
Defects- This method assists in inspecting the efforts and fixing the mistakes (Chiarini, 2015).
Overproduction- This factor assists in producing products and services in satisfying the needs
of the customer.
Waiting- This includes to set the time for manufacturing for processing the data in the industry
of service.
Non-Utilised talent- This waste empowers the employees by leveraging the skills of the
employees and their creativity.
Transportation- Products are moving, equipment and without any value addition or people from
one place to another (Ellis and Walton, 2017).
Inventory- This prevents is storing unnecessary and unwanted information and also includes
information storage.
Motion- This prevents unnecessary time in the movement of machines and people.
Extra processing- This steps consist the work that exceeds the satisfaction of the workers and
not adding the value to the products and service.
