INTRODUCTION
Operations Management can be defined as the process of administering different
activities performed in an organisation in order to achieve the highest efficiency possible by
performing the work. By properly looking over the work, it is easy to find mistakes and rectify
them. Logistics can be defined as the process of planning and execution of activities related to
transportation and storage of goods of an organisation. This activity is conducted in order to
make the products available to the customers as per their demand. The following assignment is
based on three main tasks whose accomplishments are necessary in order to make the
organisation successful which are Operations Management, Supply Chain Management and
Logistics. Supply Chain Management can be defined as the process of managing the flow of
goods and services of an organisation and considers all the parts processes by which the raw
material is converted into finished products. By doing these tasks, the company can make
increment in their profits and the customer satisfaction level (Christopher, 2016). The assignment
will further focus on the ways by which the quality of the products and services of a company are
managed and goo business relationships are maintained among the people involved in the supply
chain. The ways of making improvement and managing good business relationships will be
discussed with the help of applying different theories and their evaluation will also be done.
MAIN BODY
Introduction to Jaguar and the Topics Chosen
In order to make the successful completion of this assignment possible, Jaguar Company
which was introduced in the year of 1935 and is dealing in Luxury Sports Car. The company is a
British Multinational Company which is headquartered in Whitely, England.
The two areas in managing operations, logistics and supply chain of Jaguar are managing
quality of their products and managing business relationships with their supply chain
members. The discussion of these two are provided as under:
Managing Quality: It can be defined as the process by which the quality of the products of a
company are improved by looking over all the tasks which can effect on the quality of the
products and services of the company. So this process is also important to ensure that the
customers are getting good quality products and services. It also helps in maintaining and
enhancing the customer satisfaction level. As customers are paying money to get satisfaction

from the products the are using, so it also becomes the responsibility of the company to provide
their customers with the best quality possible.
Managing Business Relationships in Supply Chains:
The supply chain of an organisation consists of various people such as employees,
suppliers, customers, etc. These are the people which makes possible the successful running of a
business and also ensures that the business is earning sufficient profits which are necessary for
its survival and growth (Ellinger and Ellinger, 2014). Another reason why these relationships are
important to manage is because they are the source of income for the company and also
employees are one who creates quality products for the company.
Explanation of Theories to Managing Quality, Application, Critical Analysis and Example
Not only Jaguar but also other businesses must consider the Quality Aspect as this is the
basis on which the product of a company is sold (Wang and et. al., 2016). The foremost thing
which is checked by the customers in case of Luxury Products. The purchasing decision
regarding any product is made by checking the quality of the product. For improvement in the
quality of the products of the company, Jaguar can make use of Total Quality Management
Approach in order enhance the quality of its products so as to enhance the satisfaction level of
the customers. The explanation of this approach to quality management is discussed as under:
Total Quality Management Approach (TQM):
The following approach is used in order to maintain and enhance the quality of the
products and services of the company. It focuses on the ways by which continuous improvement
can be made in the processes of working and how the quality of products can be enhanced in
order to provide customers with the best possible satisfaction level. Further the approach is also
useful as it provides exactly about the place where errors are coming and also provides the ways
by which they can be eliminated (Ellram and Cooper, 2014). This approach is based on many
principles which are discussed as under:
Continuous Improvement: According to this principle, the company must focus and find new
ways of making improvement in the way of working which can provide the company with
positive results regarding the quality aspect.
Customer Focus: The following principle says that the products made by the company and the
improvement made in them must focus on the need and demands of the customers so that

improvements made in products prove to be sufficient to capture the market share and fulfil the
needs of customers.
Training: As the quality management process is all about continuous improvement so for
accomplishing all tasks in good and accurate manner they must be provided with sufficient
training so that they may know about how to perform a task and achieve efficiency in their work.
Methodology and Tools: The employees must be provided with proper equipments and tools in
order to make their work complete. With the change in working pattern of the company, the tools
also changes and employees must be provided with them so as to accomplish their work in an
efficient and effective manner (Fayezi, Zutshi and O'Loughlin, 2015).
Employee Involvement: Employees are the person who are directly engaged in the work such as
checking the quality of the product So it is necessary to have high degree of involvement of
employees in the working of company. They must work motivated and their motivation level
should be managed by company because they are individuals who are creating demand for the
products of the company in market.
Application of TQM Approach in Jaguar Company:
The supply chain process of Jaguar is very long and this approach can be applied to
Jaguar Company. This approach also useful for Jaguar as it will provide the company with all the
necessary aspects to look over which can help the company in maintaining the quality of their
products. The maintenance of the quality of the products of Jaguar can be done by firstly
analysing the needs and demands of the customers of Jaguar Company. The company will be
able to fetch related information about the needs of customers and make changes in their
products and can also develop new products to fulfil their demands. Further this will also help
the company in increasing their market share (Touboulic and Walker, 2015). A products passes
through various stages of production level. SO the company can make its processes in a way
which checks the quality of the products at every stage and this will help the company in
eradicating the mistakes in the products at the initial stage when they are found. Further for
making improvement in the quality of the products, it can also use quality inspectors to check the
overall quality of the products instead using machines to achieve overall efficiency in the work.
Minimum standards and benchmarks can also be set by the company which will guide the
employees about their work and they will be able to differentiate between the actual quality and
the required quality of the product.

This approach can also be applied to the Logistics. It is the process which makes sure the
products of the company are provided to the customers as and when they are demanded to to
fulfil this need, the company makes use of Logistics which is mainly concerned with the work of
storing the goods and transporting them to their customers. In making improvement in this
process, the company can provide their employees in Logistics department with the proper way
of transporting and storing the goods so and can also guide them from time to time so that goods
can be kept in good condition and losses to the company can be avoided. In supply chain
management process, TQM Approach can also be applied as the employees interacting with
customers can take feedbacks from them from time to time and provide those feedbacks to the
production department so that they may make necessary changes in the product and keep
satisfied to their customers (Fernandes and et. al., 2017).
The following approach is also having its own advantages as well as disadvantages. It is
beneficial to the company as the customer satisfaction level can be maintained and enhanced.
This will be done by the implementation of new methodologies and tools and providing training
to their employees so that they many improvement in the production process of the company. On
the other hand, the application of this approach is also disadvantageous to the company as the
results of this approach are shown after a very long period of time and any little mistake in the
planning process can damage the implementation of the whole process.
An example of the company who has applied this approach in its working is Volvo who
had successful applied this approach in its working and got positive results from its application.
Application of Theories Related to Managing Business Relationships in Supply Chains, Example
and its Application in Jaguar
Managing Business Relationships in Supply Chains:
Supply Chain can be defined as the network chain of the company by which the company
completes the process of producing the goods and till it delivers and used by the customers. It
includes many individuals, suppliers, customers, employees, etc. who help in the successful
running of the company (Halldórsson, Hsuan and Kotzab, 2015). The following theory can be
applied by Jaguar in order to maintain good business relationships with their customers which is
explained as under:
Network Theory:
Document Page
The main focus of this theory is on the enhancement of relationships in between different
members of supply chain and the company. Different members which are covered in the supply
chain are customers, suppliers, employees, managers, etc. The approach provides the company
with the changes in the environment of the market and also considering the interests of
customers.
Application:
The following theory can be applied in the working of Jaguar by focusing on the interests
of the members of supply chain. By considering the interests of different individuals covered
under supply chain, the company can become familiar with the interests of these members and
can also work in order to keep them satisfied and and strengthening the bond in between the
company their members in the supply chain. The satisfaction of these members will help in the
growth and development of the company as good satisfaction level of these members will
increase their contribution which they can make in the growth of Jaguar. For example, the
suppliers can provide better raw material to their company and this will help in increasing the
productivity of the business (Hofmann and et. al., 2014). With the help of this, the company can
increase the efficiency in their work and also in the quality of their products
The following approach can also be applied to the logistics department as good
relationship with the employees working in this department will make them to work more
carefully which will help in good accomplishment of the works they are provided with.
The following approach is also having its own advantages and disadvantages to the
company. On the one hand, it enhances the relationship between different members of supply
chain, than on the other hand is also disadvantageous as it is very difficult to identify the
perception of the members in supply chain as the interest of every person differs from each other.
The company, for example, who had successfully applied this approach in its working is
Network Theory is Porsche Panamera and enhanced the relationship better which it had with
their customers (Schönsleben, 2016).
Triple bottom Line Approach of Jaguar
In order to make ensure that the business is going in the right direction or not, it is
important for the company to consider some of the factors which helps in making the business
sustainable and help in its growth. These three factors are discussed as under:

Economical Approach: The economical approach considers upon making the business
sustainable by earning sufficient profit which help in the growth and development of the
company and neither exploits to their customers (Rushton, Croucher and Baker, 2014).
This approach focuses on the ways by which company can increase their profits not by
increasing the prices of their products but by finding other ways such as the recycling
process. The company can convert wasteful materials into useful one which will help in
reduction in additional costs of the company and increase in their profits.
Social Approach: The company is also implied with some responsibilities which
company has to fulfil towards the society and their employees. Jaguar is also doing well
in this approach as it is providing good salaries and wages to their employees.
Considering these factors helped the company in creating its good image in the market
and capturing a large area of market share (Prajogo, Oke and Olhager, 2016).
Environmental Approach: The following approach focuses on the ways by which the
company is fulfilling its responsibility towards the environment. Jaguar is also
performing well in this area as the working policies of the company various aspects of
environment. For preventing the environment, it has also developed various activities
such as reduction in wastage of water in its operations, and recycling the waste products
is also Tehran contribution made by the company in relation to the environment in which
it is working. These policies related to environment protection covers every aspect of its
business operations, engineering, manufacturing services, etc. which are made keeping in
mind the preservation of environment.
Recommendations
Based on the above analysis dome on Jaguar it is recommended to the company that the
company can make use of Total Quality Management Approach in order to enhance the quality
of their products so that they may enhance the level of satisfaction of their customers. But it s
also advised to the company that the use of this approach must be done properly to get accurate
result. Little bit mistake in the application of this project can cause wastage of time, money and
will give inaccurate results to the company. Further the use of Network theory is also
recommended to the company in order to enhance their relationship with the members in supply
chain. It is so because the employees, customers and suppliers contribute a lot in the success of a

company so it is necessary to maintain good relationship with the company in order to achieve
the goals and objectives of the company.
REFLECTION
This following is a reflective paper which is based on my own experience which I came across
while making the completion of this project. There were several experiences which were positive
and negative during the course of the completing the project. The completion of this assignment
made me aware about the concept of operations management, logistics and supply chain
management. Before doing this assignment I was not aware about all these aspects which prove
to be an important part of every business organisation. This assignment changes my perceptions
into reality as the perceptions regarding this project changes when I came across this project.
When I did this project first time, at that time also I was not having much knowledge about what
to do, how to do and complete the project But I was given with a second chance to do this project
as my tutor gave feedback on this project. The feedbacks provided by my tutor also helped me a
lot as with the help of these feedbacks I was able to find out the areas where I was lacking behind
and also provide me way of working. The feedbacks also help in enhancing my knowledge and
skills regarding making the project and also about the topic because in the earlier attempt there
were several things which were missing from the project but by considering the feedback I was
able to make understand the areas where I was lacking behind and it also enhanced my
knowledge as this time I am also adding some other topics in this assignment so that the work
can be done successfully. The bad experience was about the collection of data in order to
complete the project which was solved with the help of family, friends and teachers. These issues
faced by me during the completion of project also helped me in improving my skills which
further contributed in my personal and professional development. This assignment has also made
me capable of doing further assignments in future to do them in an efficient and effective
manner.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that supply chain management, logistics and
operations management are an important part of every business organisation which is necessary
in order to successfully in the given business environment. Further it is also concluded that
quality of the products and services of a company also plays an important role in the enhancing
Document Page
and maintaining the satisfaction level of the customers, so the main focus of the company must
be on the quality of the products and services they are providing to their customers. The use of
network theory is also important for maintaining good business relation to the individuals
covered under the supply chain of a company. Moreover, it is also concluded the the application
of both these theories in business context must be done carefully so that they may avoid future
losses and wastages of time that can happen while applying these theories in their working.
