INTRODUCTION
A supply chain is a type of network that includes different individuals which helps in creating a
product for an organisation with help of different resources and technology and also helps in
selling that product to customers. They play an crucial role from delivering the raw materials
from suppliers to manufacturer and then to the customers. Present study is based on the company
Jaguar that is a luxury vehicle brand of Jaguar Land Rover that is a multinational car
manufacturer with head quarter in Whitley, Coventry, England. It was introduced in the year
1935. Report will include key operation, logistics and supply chain management issues faced by
the managers in Jaguar. On basis of these issues report also identify the ways operation functions
and it supports market that it serves. Further it includes the service delivery systems that Jaguar
uses and also the about the infrastructure that managers use in delivery systems. Study is based
on two areas that are:- managing people in operations and supply chains and another is different
logistics mix that will include different channels, networks, transportation, managing inventory
and capacity(Ahi and Searcy, 2015).

MANAGEMENT
Key operation, logistics and supply chain management issues faced by the managers in Jaguar
Operation issues:-
There are many operational issues that managers of Jaguar usually face to keep there
business easy going. One of them is monitoring the performance of business time to time as it is
a challenge for the managers to monitor and then analyse the problems coming in operational
part of the business. Managers of Jaguar also faces issues related to customers feedback as
listening to each customer and continuously making improvement in operations of business so
that brand value can be sustained for longer duration is very tough(Luthra and et.al., 2017).
Logistic issues:-
Many a time new and complex operations have to be implemented that leads to various
logistic management issues. These complex operations leads to increase in cost and it become
tough for managers to face various financial challenges(Mamic, 2017).

Supply chain management issues:-
Managers of Jaguar are facing supply chain management issues due to globalization. To
reduce cost across supply chain managers of Jaguar work to shift there manufacturing operations
to those countries where costs related to labor, taxes or transportation is lower. Another issue
managers faced is Fast changing markets as products are having shorter life cycle due to
changing marketing demands. Jaguar is working to keeps it manufacturing cost low and
innovating new products that can set trends in market. For the same a flexible supply chain is in
need as constantly updating the features of the product is also in need. There is an increase in
pressure on managers to create high quality products and Jaguar can do so by increasing the
quality of supply chain at every levels from raw materials to product handling(Rajesh and Ravi,
2015).
Ways operation functions and it supports market that it serves
Operation functions serves in many ways as it help in proper utilization of finances with
help of different strategy to satisfy the needs of customers of Jaguar. It includes planning,
organising and controlling all the activities of the business. It helps in designing the product with
help of new technology so that product can be easily sold in market. Operation also functions in
forecasting of business to have a effective production process. When all these activities are
satisfactory then only Jaguar can create its value in market(Short, Toffel and Hugill, 2016).

also work to provide a complimentary pick-up and delivery service for customers within 50
miles of there dealership as they believe customers convenience is there top priority(Steiner and
et.al., 2017).

Jaguar managers uses data sharing infrastructure to improve car development so that it
become easy to attract and deliver there products in market. They use simple integrated
technology for designing new cars. They are using various applications like CAD, CAM and

those employees are hired that have good vision and can help the company to come up with new
ideas so that they are able to meet customers' demand. It depends on the people how effectively
they operates to maintain the quality standard of Jaguar. For the same proper training is given to
all the employees of Jaguar working in top line to bottom line so that they can contribute for
making there brand more recognised in the market. When it comes to managing operations it
comes with management of people also(Wilhelm and et.al., 2016). When Jaguar determines new
way of doing business then for operating it new changes have to be implemented for that people
working have to improve there way to operate things. With implementation of new software or
design it is necessary for Jaguar to make there people cope up with the new implementations.
Operation managers work to make a good relation between the members of team so that they can
work with coordination and if any issues raise while they operates the things, they can solve the

problems by interacting with each other. This also helps in reducing the stress level of employees
while operating different tasks(Ahi and Searcy, 2015).

People play an important role in supply chain as its is a network of people that
communicate within to get the raw materials so that manufacturing of products can be done that
further leads to delivery of these manufactured products to the respected customers. For having
raw material of good quality Jaguar have made strong connections with the suppliers as a result
company is getting material with a good quality that help in manufacturing an effective products
that can create value in market. For manufacturing also people having goods skills can workout
to make such products that can meet customers demand and get satisfied with the offerings. The
work of people not ends here as there are different distribution channels which helps in
delivering the products in market where demand is seen. These distribution channels have to be
managed so that products are easily available to the clients and they get services time to time.
People are the power behind a effective supply chain as it is a planning function and people
contribute in making different strategy to implement in(Luthra and et.al., 2017).
Logistics mix: channels, networks, transportation, managing inventory and capacity

Jaguar have made many arrangements to deliver their services to customers on time and
at right place. For the same they hire employees who are talented and are good technicians that
help the company in keeping the value of brand in market. They are providing services which are
at higher level and all the distributors as well as technicians are familiar with the make and
model of Jaguar. They also work to provide a complimentary pick-up and delivery service for
customers within 50 miles of there dealership as they believe customers convenience is there top
priority. They have expanded there distribution channels from UK to other countries to extract
huge market as demand is increasing. Buyers for Jaguar are available all over the world so
accordingly company is working on distribution channels so that all the demands can be fulfilled
on time(Mamic, 2017).
Networks:-

Network design in supply chain basically helps to determine physical arrangement or
layout of the structure and infrastructure. There are various manufacturing units for Jaguar and
are located all over the world. Company is having huge network from suppliers to distributors.
As business is expanding so does the network and for expanding the branches to new locations
that is in different countries Jaguar usually faces problems related to warehouse location. Jaguar
networks are so effective that they provide right things at right place within the time. They are
known for coordination as they are supplying there brands over 175 countries and all the
customers are satisfied with there services(Rajesh and Ravi, 2015).
Transportation:-
Transportation plays an important part in providing end to end network visibility. As it
makes the things clear and directly impact customer related services. Transportation helps jaguar
in getting input materials from the suppliers and distributing the finished products to all the
potential customers. For providing better services to the customers of Jaguar it is important to
have good transportation facility for technical people so that they can give effective services on
time. jaguar provides a pick-up and delivery service for customers within 50 miles of there
dealership so that customers can get more attracted towards the brand(Short, Toffel and Hugill,
2016).
Managing inventory:-
Efficiency of supply chain depends on efficiency in inventory reduction. Holding
inventory at lowest can help in effective supply chain management. Inventory supply and support
balance of demand and supply and also cope with the forward and reverse flows in logistic mix.
Managing important assets is also key role of inventory management(Steiner and et.al., 2017).
Capacity:-
Measuring capacity of different sources used for manufacturing the product of Jaguar is a
key element in supply chain. It is essential to measure whether the machine used or different
operators are matching the demand or not. It is also been recognised that what time period will it
take to complete it(Verdouw and et.al., 2016).
RECOMMENDATIONS
Business can be improved if Jaguar focuses on bottom line of business that is
incorporation of economic, social and environmental factors to sustain there business in long run.

Economic factors that can affect supply chain of Jaguar are inflation and exchange rate. If
inflation rate is high then it may affect supply chain as price related to raw materials may rise.
There are social factors like customers attitude and lifestyle that can affect supply chain as
change in life style of customers may demand innovative products that differ from other products
in market(Wilhelm and et.al., 2016). If Jaguar want to retain there customers for long period they
can work for innovation and can improve there products so that it differ from other competitors.
Now a days environmental factors are also affecting supply chain of business as government is
focusing on various CSR activities, so Jaguar have to make there products eco-friendly that is
pollution free so that it can not harm the environment.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that Supply chain plays an important part to
distribute product with help of good network to the potential customers of Jaguar. From the
report it has been concluded that there are different key operations and supply chain management
issues that managers of Jaguar faces and make efforts to reduce them. Operation functions serves
in many ways as it helps in making proper strategy for the business and managers work hard to
have an effective service delivery systems. Jaguar uses an effective infrastructure to improve
there services so that it become easy to attract potential customers. Jaguar have made many
arrangements to deliver their services to customers and for the same its network design helps in
supply chain. Transportation and inventory management also helps in supplying the effective
services. Supply chain depends on capacity of equipment that Jaguar uses.
