Jamaica introduced the ban on the single use plastics recently given the growing
amount of rise in pollution and the problems of environmental degradation. The
Governmental ban has come into effect after reports suggested that Jamaica was one of the
topmost countries with the highest amount of per capita use of plastic bags. The estimates
were shocking as the different estimates showed that an average Jamaican used around more
than 500 bags per year around. The Government has taken all the different necessary steps in
order to ensure the success of the plan (Critchell et al. 2019). The government of Jamaica has
put in all the weight behind it and has used all the available knowledge to get all the
stakeholders of the organization on board.
The government of Jamaica have formulated a well-planned strategy to address the
different needs of the country. The main objective for the Government in this regards is the
introduction of bio-plastic straws that can be essential for meeting the different needs of the
environment. The strategy of the company have been listed down in a systematic manner to
complete the tasks at a chain basis. This includes;
a. Banning of the plastic straws
b. Only exception of the government will be the use of the plastic straws by the disabled
persons
c. Creation of a taskforce by the government to strictly implement the ban of the single
use straws
d. The manufacturers of bio straws will be encouraged to manufacture such products on
a large scale
