Introduction
The aim of the report analyses people, culture and contemporary leadership within the JB HI-FI
Company. The report includes the HR practices that contribute in improving the performance,
culture as well as the engagement of the employees within the JB HI-FI company. JB HI-FI
Company is a publicly listed retailer that sells as well as specialises in consumer goods. The
company currently has the places in the market of Australia as well as New Zealand. JB HI-FI
came into existence in the year 1974 by Mr John Barbuto (JB) who is trading from the single
store present in the East Keilor, Victoria. The business was vended in the year 1983 and by 1999
another nine stores were opened. It has been found that July 2000; JB HI-FI Company was
bought by private equity financiers as well as senior management with the motive of taking
model to countrywide (JB HI-FI Company, 2020). In October 2003, the company was floated on
the ASX. It has been found that this is the public business that is ranked number 50 out of
highest 2000 businesses in Australia (IBIS World, 2020).

JB HI-FI Company is growing in the market and they are focused towards the worker’s
performance. The business is trying to improve performance of employees so that they can attain
the goals of the organisation.
Providing a personal goal to each personnel
The research reflects fact that team who set the goals get obtain 20-25% of the improved
performance of the work (Boss, 2017). JB HI-FI Company is trying to give the personal target to
every employee which helps them in prioritizing the things which are essential for meeting the
gaols. Along with this, personal goals guide the employees for making the right decision that
helps them to meet the goals. The proper decision helps them to meet the target which is set for
the employee which helps them in improving the performance and contributes in attaining the
goals of JB HI-FI Company. Along with this, it will help the company to determine the
employees who can meet their goals and objective (Boss, 2017). Thus, the company will be able
to take the steps against those employees who are not meeting their target. The employees of the
company will also develop the new abilities that will enhance their performance and helps them
to meet the set personal targets. This will help employees for their personal development as well
as contribute in improving the performance towards the company.
Providing Rewards to best performer of business
In research, it has been found that rewards are considered as one of the powerful methods that
contribute in encouraging the performance of employees who does well. The performance of the
employees is directly linked with the rewards that are offered to them (Mann and Harter, 2016).

The high rewards to finest performance of business motivate other employee to work and
accordingly take the action in a way to enhance their performance so that they can attain those
rewards. JB HI-FI Company remuneration strategy consists of the appropriate rewards,
incentives as well as retains the employees for their best work. It has been found that currently,
the company has increased its fixed amount of remuneration by approx. 3.9% for the CEO of the
group and this is between 3.0% and 8.4% for other executives (JB HI-FI Company, 2019). The
annual report of the business shows that there is an increase in the remuneration by 16.6% given
it had been set low comparing to the market upon his selection.
Enhance culture of personnel in JB HI-FI
JB HI-FI Business considers workplace culture contributes effectively to success of the business.
Employees are the one who contributes to the culture of the company that can contribute in
improving the performance for attaining goals (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart and Wright, 2017). JB

employees to take involvement in the fun activities, organised by HR of the company. For
improving the culture, the company ensure that they form a friendly relationship with the
employees and respect their views and opinions (Whitmore, 2015).

JB HI-FI business improves the culture by generating the awareness about history of company to
personnel so that they can value the same and maintain the culture which is expected by the
owner of the company (Anitha, 2016). Along with this, employees who are working with the
company will try to maintain the culture which is expected by the owner which will improve the
culture and contribute to the success of company.

the employees, as well as employees, get to know the scope or area of improvement. The
employees will also present some of the views which they have experience in the organisation
and this will help them to improve engagement level within the company (Noe, Hollenbeck,

Organizing social events by HR is one of the effective ways through which employee
engagement improves which is effective for the performance of employees in the market. The
social events make the employees learn about the company, their values, purpose for which they
