1JEAN WATSON THEORY
The main aim of the paper is to research on the application of theory of Jean Watson by
using primary research. Jean Watson theory was developed in the name of theory of human
caring. To ensure the fact that caring is principle need of patient, the theory is the guide for the
nursing practice. The caring attitude of nurse gives sense of satisfaction to the patient about the
treatment plan.
The study of Hubert (2018) has discussed about the transpersonal caring in nurse by
providing educational intervention grounded on the jean Watson theory of human caring. The
aim purpose of the study was to explore the efficacy of jean Watson theory for the nurse who are
engage in the work handling patient with chronic pain. The study provided evidence to the nurse
concerning the application of the theory to address the need of the care for the patient who are
undergoing immense pain. Moreover, the study has also provided ways to improve the practice
area. The author has conducted a primary research in which total five registered nurse were
included who were working in pain center. In the first session author has included the concept of
love and kindness to nurse than to the patient. They were given learning of mindfulness,
reflecting and meditation for several week. In the next step, author focused on the need of the
patient by applying love and care for them undergoing pain. In the next session author has
allowed time for nurse to apply the teaching of love, kindness which is core of Jean Watson
theory an observe the improvement of health of patient. author then evaluated the perception of
nurse via survey. Watson caritas self-rating scale tool was used to changes in practice of nurse

been improvement in mental stability of patient and better cope with the pain. Thus, by showing
love, kindness and learning of the theory helps in improvement of nursing practice.
The study is supported by the Yeter Durgun Ozan (2015) where the author has evaluated
the case study where Watson theory has been applied in care of human. The area of focus in
nursing care is regarding the infertile women who are acceptance in vitro fertilization treatment.
In the study the ten elementary aspects based on the theory are used to give supportive care by
the nurse. The main purpose of the case study was to discuss the effectiveness of theory in giving
holistic care to the women who have undergone unsuccessful IVF treatment. The finding of the
study will be helpful to develop professionalism in nursing. Author has evaluated the case study
where the nurse had done face to face interview and telephonic interview with the women of 23
years old after failed IVF treatment. The nurse has address the negative feeling of the women,
practice with love and kindness, develop human care connection, given solution through the
caring process for health issue, creating healing environment and respected the need of the
patient. These attributes are the main learning of the jean Watson theory. The finding showed
that with application of the element of theory, help and trust relationship was develop between
the nurse and patient which help her to cope with the situation in better way. Thus, the
framework of the Jean Watson theory has suggested that caring relationship address the
characteristic of the human that need love, support in the stressful situation. The author has said
that the framework of the theory also guides the nurses that give care to the patient that reflect
love, respect, trust, compassion and hope.
From the above discussion it can be said that providing care is the main principle in the
area of nursing field which is also distinguishing factor between the nurse and heath care
professional. It is the responsibility of nurse to handle the case of the patient with love, kindness
