Aim of the Report
The primary aim of the report is to identify the various issues that Jen was undergoing
from her childhood and the requirement and the need of Jen and her family in regards to the
various community services that they shall obtain to secure their lifestyle. Further, this report
identifies the requirement and the need for the Community-oriented sentencing for the
offences she committed.
Introduction
The report aims to state all the issues concerned to the life of Jen so that under the
Human right Act, she shall be eligible to get the proper justice and the sentence upon the
community sentencing. As per the facts and the scenario of the case, Jen and Mick were
married and had two children, Hannah and Bessie, among which Bessie had Autism. They
were seeking help from marigold Community Center, and it was observed that various
problems remained in their lives. Not only that the relationship between Jen and Mick was
not that pleasant, and they suffered from regular problems. There were various issues for
which she was seeking help from the community centre, such as the various housing-related
issues and the emotional and social pressure that was present in her life. She suffered from
mental imbalances and depression as she lacked parenting skills, and she wanted to give a
proper livelihood to Bessie but was unable to do so. Not only that this was the main reason
for which both Jen and Mick indulged themselves into gambling and use of drugs. So it is
evident that all the thefts and the unlawful activities was a result of the mental distress and
the lack of guidance and not to cause harm to someone. The main subject of this report is to
identify the issues that were the cause of the activity and to ensure that whether she might be
able to transfer to community sentencing.

Outline of the Issues
Jen had gambling habits, and even the relationship between Jen and Mick is not that
pleasant. Hannah and Bessie both are small though Hannah is normal, Bessie has Autism.
Hannah is progressing well and plays with others normally, but Bessie does not communicate
well with others and only communicate with Hannah. Jen tries hard in order to provide the
care to both Hannah and Bessie as a parent. Bessie is continuing her counselling sessions at
The Autism and Therapy Centre and requires much effort to keep the behaviour normal. For
such reason, Jen has taken many counselling sessions regarding the constant guilt she faces
for the inadequacies in giving the children a proper and normal life. When Jen was small, she
used to reside at Manfred Harbour, where she was tortured by her father and had a
responsibly over all other siblings. For this, her relationship with the family members was
also not good. Although Mick changed his life, and she thought that this marriage could save
her from the disasters that she faced in her life. However, it was for some time only, and they
also had issues within them. Not only that after the age of 12, but things also started
deteriorating more, and she statted bunking school and involve alcohol and drug usages.
However, she ended up to the care of FACS, but it did not help as she continued to conduct
such crimes and involved in illegal practices for which she got money for drugs (Zifcak,
2014). The present condition states that she was under stress due to the police intervention
and her indulgent in the criminal activities that resulted in police interrogations. She feared it
due to the children as it could have an impact upon the children as they are very small, and it
might hurt the children. The main aim of the community centre is to provide the wellbeing
and the social justice to the needy ones who belong from a deprived class or whose rights
have been deprived.
Jen used the counselling sessions by the Marigold Community Centre as she wanted
to move on with her life in order to provide a proper lifestyle to the children and in order for

that she wanted to get rid of the emotional distresses she had. Further, the gambling problem
that she possessed can be corrected as it just needs proper guidance for which she can correct
her habits (Flynn, 2005). For that, she may take help from the Penrith Lifeline Problem
Gambling programs. Further for the children and the housing problems, the alpha community
Housing Centre can be able to provide housing that shall reduce the problem of housing that
she has. Moreover, finally, for the children The Autism Early Intervention and Therapy
Centre at Westmead Children’s Hospital can help in order to provide a proper guideline to the
children and provide them with proper education. Not only that Mick also had drug issues for
which he might not be able to take care of the children and provide them with a proper future.
So in order for providing a secured future to the children, such community welfare centres
can be helpful (Alcock, Daly & Griggs, 2008).
Factual Events
The legal issues that can be considered in the situation include her indulgence in theft
or fraudulent activity that she may be sanctioned for. However, in order to understand the
reason for the crime, the background also needs to be understood. The problems she faced
was due to the constant mental pressures and the social pressures that she faced from
childhood (Marsiglia & Kulis, 2016). It was her parent's duty in order to guide her to be a
responsible citizen. However, for their lack of proper guidance and breach of the duty to care,
she never got the chance to correct herself and remained deprived of the rights even as a kid.
So considering the background and her mental issues, she indulged herself into criminal
activities and drugs that eased her pain. Moreover, for that money, she was indulged into
crime and fraudulent activity. So keeping these conditions in mind, she shall get a chance to
rehabilitate which shall be only helpful through community sentencing procedure and not the
legislative processes.

Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be stated that through the various community services she shall
be able to regain her life that shall help her in order to reform the practices and help her
family in order to stabilize and safeguard the present conditions of the family. The best way
would be to provide the services to the family that shall help them secure a proper future and
community-oriented sentencing that may enable her to get a chance for reformation as the
crimes were the consequence of the situation and the mental issues that she was facing.
Recommendation
Seeing the facts, the request shall be made for the services that her family requires:
 Marigold Community Centre providing counselling sessions to Jen
 Penrith Lifeline Problem Gambling programs regarding the gambling issue
 Alpha community Housing Centre for the housing assistance as they were homeless
 The Autism Early Intervention and Therapy Centre for Bessie for the regular therapy.
