JOB ANALYSIS COMPENSATION
Performance appraisal is an effective and most significant tool used by business to
measure the performance and behavior of the employees in the organization. This makes
performance appraisal an important part of the business. Further, it is important for an
organization that both the boss and its sub-ordinates keep a check on their performance. This is
because it helps them to improve their output in the business (Ellington & Wilson, 2017). Thus,
performance appraisal is necessary because it helps in contributing to the positive experience and
overall welfare of the employees as well as the organization. Moreover, it helps in building up
the self-esteem and motivation of the employees by determining an improved compensation
package for them for the efforts they have put to the organization. According to Bulto & Markos
(2017), the performance appraisal system is still one of the major factors for influencing the
intrinsic and extrinsic motivation among the employees. Performance management is an ancient
management practice that played an important role in evaluating performance. It has been used
in organization for various purposes such as administrative, development and others. Even
though it is a traditional practice yet it is used in recent times and is a sub-system for human
resource development. Organizations are able to take important decisions such as promotion,
compensation, termination, and others with the use of performance appraisal system. Thus, even
being a traditional system the scope of performance appraisal system has increased in the
organization over time.
