1HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
As human resources are considered as the most valuable resource of any organization, the
attitude and the job satisfaction of the employees plays a crucial role. The organizational
citizenship behavior which is also known as extra role behavior motivates the employees to go
beyond the expected from job role and thus help the organization in improving its business.
There is a considerable and positive association between organizational citizenship behavior and
job satisfaction. The various factors such as identity, capability and encouragement of the
employees play an important role for the development of the organization. The organizational
citizenship behavior is necessary in the daily operation of any business organization so that the
company can survive in this era of globalization (Yousef 2017). Job satisfaction is also an
important facet which is associated with the performance of the employees. Moreover the
organizational citizenship behavior has influenced the supervision and psychology in any
organization. In order to assist the management and to monitor the working environment,
motivation and satisfaction of the employees plays an important role. The positive attitude of the
employees also helps to ensure smoothness in the work and thus also helps in overcoming tensed
situations. An employee with positive attitude and job satisfaction will show positive
organizational citizenship behavior. It has also been found that although job satisfaction is
related with performance as well as organizational citizenship behavior, the influence of extrinsic
and intrinsic job satisfaction plays an important role. Thus, it can be said that the dimensions of
positive attitude, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior are inter-related (Lam et
al. 2015).
