The following journal is based on topics that were studied in week 5, week 6, week 7 and
week 8. The topics that were discussed are:
Protection of freedom of expression in USA and it impact the organization. The relevance
of freedom of speech was also discussed in this week. From the lectures, I have earned that about
the types of expression that are not protected under law. Under the US law, hate speech,
pornography are prohibited by the law (Lei and Hu 2013). The US law prohibits from publishing
any information that is in appropriate. In the week 6 the topic discussed was related to
intellectual property. It describes the works of mind of a person or group it is protected with the
help of Patent, Trade Marks, Copy Rights and Plant Breeder’s Rights. The types of trademarks
include letter, number, logo, picture, phrase and many more. Plagiarism is one more important
topic that was discussed in week 6, plagiarism is defined as the stealing of ideas of someone and
representing it as one’s own. Cyber squatting is defined as the act of registering in domain names
of famous companies but in reality there is no connection (Jora 2015).
In the 7th week concepts like dynamic testing was taught, dynamic testing is the process
of entering the data and comparing the results with the expected results. Another topic discussed
in week 7 was Software development methodology, Capability Maturity Model Integration. The
process improvement approach explains the important elements of the effective process. In the
8th week I learned about the impact of IT on the standard of living and productivity of the
worker. The areas impacted are Gross Domestic product, the living standard of US is affected .
The knowledge I gained is very beneficial as it has made me aware about the US freedom
of expression and what all things are covered in it. Knowledge of IT laws is very important as we
