Introduction
Website design and development is a vast sphere of programming and application or
software development. This is the technique that is used in the developing of website that
thrive to produce business, informational and entertainment services to the audience. With the
advent of technology, every aspect of the human life has been upgraded to suit the online
platforms. Every modes of business are upgrading themselves and their business to develop
their online presence. Studies claim that almost 70% of the modern advertising media has
shifted its base to online means. The main reason being the reach of the platform. At one
click’s distance, a page, an image or an advert can be routed off to thousands of miles across.
In this report, the design decisions of one such business promotion portal of the JS Wedding
Planners will be discussed. Furthermore, there will be elaborate explanations of the flaws and
benefits of the designed website. Finally, recommendations for a better version of the website
will be pointed out for the betterment of the company keeping in mind the competitive future.
Design Decisions
To start with the website, it was necessary to first develop a design document. It
consisted of all the required design details that one can read through in order to understand
the look and feel of the website being developed. Here, we will discuss the actual
implementations that were successfully committed into the website.
Selecting the right Webpages and their contents
Firstly, it was crucial to select the right webpages for the website and then proceed
with planning what contents are them to behold. The home page must be attractive enough to
present the theme of the entire website to the audience and also must greet the audience. The
about us page and the services page were designed to serve the purpose of information carrier
to the audience and finally the contact us page was designed to provide the communication

medium between the two ends. The web pages and their implemented functions areas
follows:
The Home page: Being the landing page of the website it has a welcome message for the
users and slide show of interesting images. This will help the users to know the actual
essence of the company and the type of business that they perform.
The About-us page: As the name suggests, this page is meant store and display all details
about the website. The page is meant to produce visual and audio elements to grab the
attraction of the audience. A video player is used here, to produce more authentic and
attractive information to the audience. The page will also have a time table for the business’
opening hours.
Services page: In this page all the services performed by the JS Wedding Planners Company
are stored. The company is to provide a range of wedding design, plan and management
services such as; Wedding planning, catering, venue booking, florist, cakes, transport and
photography.
Contact us page: This is the page that the users will use to communicate with the company.
The users will be required to fill in the contact us form and click on submit to enrol for a
query. The message will be forwarded to the website stakeholders along with the other
necessary user details that he or she fills in. This page also has a special map area where the
user can get directions and location of the company’s office.
Colour and graphic Selection
Yellow and white has been chosen as the primary colours for this website. The
website is about marriage ceremonies and hence the yellow and the white colour combination
provides a neat relation to the theme of the business being promoted. The images that have
been used are of high quality and provide clear understanding of the business model or the

message being delivered. The services are also defined using images, texts and interesting
video frames.
Most importantly, each of the pages have been designed to carefully serve the purpose
of both a business-informative website and also an attractive and interactive website. The use
of various graphical images, videos and slideshows have added glitters to the website. The
Navigation bar at the top of the page is a crucial design element that has been implement. It is
necessary for the users to be able to navigate between the pages, from whichever page that
they will to. Also, the currently visited page is highlighted on the nav-bar for the better
understanding of the users.
The #FFF and #00F has been used as the primary colour combination for the entire
website, with contrasting #000 font colours. The use of the White colour added greatly to the
theme of the business, that is marriage. Furthermore, the Sans-Serif fonts have been used in
bold for clear elaboration of the textual contents and headings.
The Contact Us page uses JavaScript codes to check if all the inputs are valid and properly
entered by the user at the time of submitting. This check makes sure that the back-end will
not receive any erroneous data from the website, which may otherwise lead to system failure
or improper data collection and access. The website communicates with the user regarding
such errors with the help of the Alert option. Therefore, with all my efforts I have prepared
my website.
