Introduction
The purpose of the following essay is to review a popular or classic film. The movie
review is one of the most important genres in writing. The movie that has been chosen in this
paper is the Jungle Book. The evaluation of the movie would be done in terms of the plot, the
acting qualities and the technical superiority (Dionne: 245). The use of the technology has been a
very useful thing for the making of this film indeed.
Evaluation of the movie
The latest version of the Jungle Book had been released in several languages across the
world and it had grabbed the attention of the viewers as well. This film has been regarded as one
of the best children movies of all time. The original novel The Jungle Book was written by
Rudyard Kipling. The movie was directed by Jon Favreau and directed by both Jon Favreau and
Brigham Taylor. The movie was released by the Disney movies all over the world. Some of the
people who had been casted in this movie are Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba and others.
The voices of most of these people had been used to be dubbed for the different animals.
The film was released in the year 2016 on 4th April. Some of the most important
characters in this movie are Shere Khan, Mowgli, Bagheera, Baloo, Akela and other animals.
The 3D effects used in this movie are indeed amazing. The various formats that have been used
to prepare this movie are Digital 3-D, RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, D=BOX and other large formats
that are available in the market. The film can be can really be considered as a thrilling one and it
has really aroused the adrenaline rush of the audience when watching this movie. The boy who
has acted as Mowgli is Neel Sethi. The movie had got quite strong reviews in the box office. The
visual effects used in this movie are really commendable indeed (Hawkes: 392).

However, this film took the contrary approach while it was not inclined to use the big sets
with a huge range of visual resources. The story or plot of the movie is set in the widespread
jungles or forests of India. This movie can be taken as a much upgraded work for the computer-
assisted filmmaking. This film has been created mostly through the computer. It is an indication
of the fact that more technological innovations will be on the way. The challenge taken by the
director was heavy and that was to use Neel Sethi in a place where he had to perform in a
vacuum (Kriger: 178).
Many films had been pictured by using the 3D format such as Beowulf (2007), A
Christmas Carol (2009), The Polar Express (2004) and many others. All the protagonists of
these movie had come under the focus for the glass-eyed glaze but it made a thorough progress
towards the performance-capture technology (Beane: 389). However, one important positive
factor in this aspect is that it has throughout avoided considering the people as the CGI creatures.
According to some of the critics this film has been efficient enough to be called a children
classic. The technology can be brought forward in this movie as it has used the ‘pre-
visualization’ technique that will enhance the power of the visual effects while presenting it on
the screen (Wells: 146).
The primary challenge for the entire technical team in this movie was to present
everything like in a real world in a artificial set. This is why the motion-captured performances
are indeed considered as extravagant. The camera moves by the director Jon Favreau have been
prolific. The lighting used in this movie is very much realistic and CGI characters have been
depicted in the best measures. This is why this movie can be considered as one of the best
technology-based movies. As the readers are aware of the story of the film, no new things had
been added to it (Winwood, Rob and Kai: 467). Another film that could be compared to it for its

essence is Avatar by James Cameron. The Jungle Book can be really be hailed as one of the best
CGI character films of all time with the challenges he had to face while preparing this movie.

As per the above discussion it can be concluded that the digital animation has been
implemented in this movie in the best manner to draw the attraction of the audience. The
presentation of the CGI creatures has been done properly so the audience could feel close to
storytelling in this movie.
