This report provides an analysis and advice for Junyu, a Ph.D. graduate who has developed a new formulation with patent rights in Australia and the United States. The report aims to guide Junyu in setting up a small-scale enterprise, focusing on financing options and the optimal location (Australia or the United States) for her business. The analysis considers six key indicators: intellectual property protection, financing for SMEs, venture capital availability, ease of starting a business, the embracing of disruptive ideas, and the soundness of banks. The report utilizes data from the World Competitiveness Index 2018, incorporating client-provided weights for each indicator to determine the most business-friendly environment. The study concludes that the United States is the more favorable location due to better performance across multiple indicators, particularly in venture capital availability and financing for SMEs, offering comprehensive insights to aid Junyu in making informed decisions regarding her new business venture.
