Report
AI Summary
This report analyzes the JWD Intranet Project, comparing the Agile and Predictive approaches to project management and implementation. It begins with an introduction to the project and then contrasts the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of each approach. The report highlights the differences in concept, flexibility, budget control, and user involvement. The predictive approach is recommended, justifying this choice based on the project's defined goals and the potential risks associated with an agile approach. The document concludes with a list of references. The report provides a comprehensive overview of project management strategies in the context of the JWD Intranet Project.

JWD INTRANET PROJECT
Introduction/Background
JWD consulting has undertaken the project of development of intranet site project to
improve the operational efficiency of the organization. The report aims in comparing the
predictive and the agile approach in management and implementation of the intranet site project.
Both the approaches of project implementation and management differs. The report provides
recommendations on the appropriate approach of project implementation.
Comparison of Agile and Predictive Approach
The management and implementation approach of agile and predictive approach differs
and for therefore a significant difference can be observed in implementing the JWD project with
predictive approach or with agile approach. The differences are indicated as follows-
Criteria/Characteristics Predictive Approach Agile Approach
Concept/Characteristics In this approach the project is
planned in advance and the
project is implemented as per
the plan. No changes in the
plan is allowed throughout
the project execution (Shaw,
2018)
Agile is a project
management process that is
used for developing an on
demand software solution
through collaborative effort
of developing a self-
organizing team (Turk,
France & Rumpe, 2014). It
focuses on customers’
satisfaction and incorporates
changes in project

a large number of changes are
to be implemented in the
project.
Preferred/Recommended Approach
On analyzing the JWD consulting case, it can be indicated that the project management
team has a clear goal and objective for their intranet site project. The case indicates that the team
has spent significant amount of time in establishing the project objective and has planned the
project in such a manner that it can be executed within the set budget. Since, the key objective
and implementation approach of the project has already been set with several project initiation
meetings and brain storming sessions, the use of predictive approach for the JWD project is
recommended. The agile approach is not recommended as it might delay the entire life cycle of
the project. Also, the technical risks in the project may not be correctly identified using agile
method. Thus, the choice of predictive approach is justified for successful implementation of
JWD consulting project.
