Curriculum development and implementation
Introduction
As a curriculum designer of the show, I have selected a reading program with my
team. It can benefit the students as they can showcase their talent to the school district. It
improves fluency, vocabulary, and speaking skills.
Reading program for pilot curriculum
The activity is for K 12 students for improvement in the field of science. For this
purpose, teachers will help the students in practical along with theory. For improvement in a
science subject, reading skill is necessary. In assignment 1 and 2, the main focus is on
practical work and using the internet carefully. Technological advancement can help the
student in learning different theories and practices.
Core instructional goal for the curriculum
The curriculum goal is the outcome of curriculum implementation (Aslan, & Günay,
2016). The instructional goal for the program is increasing in knowledge, an increase in skill,
improvement in behavior and scope of the discipline.
 Increase in knowledge- Curriculum activities is introduced to increase knowledge.
The science field consists of theories, practical, mathematics calculations, and reading
skills. Technology is helpful for increasing their knowledge and boosts their
confidence.

 Increase in skill- Curriculum activities is helpful in increasing professional skills
along with personal development. Learning skills and different attitudes are adopted
to teach students (Alsubaie, 2016).
 Improvement in behavior- it is a way of appreciating every student for their skill and
knowledge (Wang, 2018). The goal is established for long term improvement. Every
student has different behavior; some are cognitive while some are effective (Alsubaie,
2016).
 Scope of discipline- discipline is important to achieve the goal through curriculum
activities (Aslan, & Günay, 2016). Every student must come on time and participate
in curriculum activities to increase their knowledge of science and technology.
Review the different approaches used for the planned curriculum as well as
potential cultural influences
Different approaches used for the planned curriculum are the goals, function,
structure, and content of the curriculum program. Communication and social interaction are
necessary to make the program successful. The content of the program must be reinforced to
gain the opportunity for increasing student's knowledge (Alsubaie, 2016). The selection of
the content should be based on knowledge gathering for the students. The curriculum design
reflects the meaning of the activities to solve any query of the students.
Bloom's Taxonomy
Bloom's Taxonomy is a model used for effective learning and educational learning.
Different objectives are set by educators for the development of their student's skills (Patten,
& Harris, 2016). It was coined by Benjamin Bloom to use six levels of learning for
educational purposes. It consists of creating, evaluating, analysing, applying, understanding

and remembering. Bloom's hierarchical structure is used for effective learning in the school.
Teachers can help the student to understand the topic, apply a concept to students, and
evaluate the process for better learning objectives.

curriculum plan (Kumar, et al., 2018).
Teachers use Bloom's Taxonomy for providing instructions to the students. Critical
thinking helps them to establish the learning goals of the program. They help students to
establish critical thinking for helping them to pass their course.
Students' technology skills can be increased through a proper understanding of computers.
Teamwork can enhance their skills as they can help each other with their knowledge
(Bridges, 2018). Learning to use technology helps them with their education. They can gain
knowledge through proper utilization of computer and technology. It helps them in solving
problems associated with their course and learning.
How students can learn a lesson from the technology
Teachers can use technology to provide PowerPoint presentations about curriculum
activity. Adding images and clips in the presentation can help to gain their attention. Using
videos for giving small lessons can help students to understand technology better. Teachers
can ask feedback from the students during the lesson to understand their thinking (Skultety, et
al., 2017). Using mobile to share important articles on education to the students and helping
students with technology can be beneficial.

The rationale of the technology to give a lesson
Technology helps them to understand the lesson at a basic level for impacting the
students. Information and development of technology affect students to build a better
understanding of the lesson. Students interact with teachers to perform the task carefully to
achieve their goals. Technological knowledge helps to sustain development for effective
learning (Skultety, et al., 2017).

 Structuring the concept- the concept of the activity must be clear and structured
properly to make the students understand.
 Structuring learning activities- learning activities and outcomes must be mentioned
earlier to achieve the goal.

 Evaluation- evaluating the process of education for development.
 Strategies- strategies are built to provide a better education.

Comparing Philosophical foundations of curriculum
Different philosophical foundations of the curriculum consist of Idealism, Essentialism,
Progressivism, and Realism
 Idealism Curriculum- The teacher must analyse the curriculum activities of the
program.

 Essentialism Curriculum- the essential skills in science subjects must be established
through the program.
 Progressivism Curriculum- students' problems and queries are solved in this stage.
 Realism Curriculum- the focus is to achieve the goal and eradicate any problem.
The philosophy is based on the personal thinking and values of the school to provide
education to the students (Bridges, 2018).
Idealism Curriculum is based on analysing the situation while Essentialism Curriculum is
to improve the personal skills of the Students. In the progressivism curriculum, problems are
solved while in the Realism curriculum, the goal is established for achieving educational
goals.
Psychological foundation for the development
It is a way of addressing how students can learn through learning programs. It is
reflected that every individual has some common characteristics in the school. For
psychological development, it is used as students can improve their behavior, motivation, and
discipline.
Relationship of social foundation to K-12 curriculum
It is the process where different institutions in the culture come together to contribute
to education. It is the human behavior and social life of the culture. It is based on discipline,
education, motivation and behavior of the culture. Society and culture are related to each
other as changes in one can affect the other. Education consists of social values, knowledge,
action, culture, and development in society. Education imparts knowledge with skills and
motivation. The cultural change affects the education system of the society.

Strategies and techniques for curriculum planning
Focus on the objective of the curriculum activity- every activity has some objective to
achieve. The reading curriculum program has an objective to improve the reading skills of the
students and increase technological knowledge.
 Focus on student development- Students have to boost their confidence, learning
skills, and knowledge from the curriculum program.
 Planning of action- After establishing objectives, proper planning needs to be
implemented to make the curriculum successful.
 Methods of teaching- Teachers improve their teaching methods and innovative
learning programs to deliver lessons to the students (Dudu & Samuel, 2018).
Innovation includes using the internet for learning objectives, PowerPoint
presentations for lectures, videos, and graphs for mini-lessons.
 Planning time is scheduled to build the curriculum program. Time management is
essential to develop strategies for the improvement of learning. Communication is
essential to gain feedback from the students to understand the requirements for
providing education.

requires time and management to successfully plan the program.

Drafting curriculum framework consists of learning and teaching program to improve
reading and technological skills (Allen et.al, 2019). The program is for K-12 students to be
reviewed by the teachers. Grade level concepts are made at the basic level to define the
process of reading curriculum programs. Committee members of the school review aspects of
the program to improve learning skills for the science students. Pilot curriculum activity will
be based on reading articles on science and technological theories. In the next process,
materials are selected to conduct curriculum activity. Materials consist of journals, books,
articles on science and technological theories.
Reviewing of these articles has two steps
In the first step, materials are analysed to understand which article the best is to use in
the program. Unimportant articles are rejected, and information-based articles are selected.
In the second step, a practice session begins where students and teachers read their articles to
perform in the program. Strength and weakness are measured to understand the requirements
of the students. The committee finalizes the program addressing the framework of the
program.
The curriculum design is implemented to provide information about the curriculum
activities (Allen et.al, 2019). Students' performance is evaluated to establish their learning

needs. After completion of the program, the result is evaluated through students' feedback
and their skills.
A good atmosphere must be created to make the students feel comfortable while
performing in the curricular activity (Dotters-Katz, et al., 2018). It is planned to reflect on the
progression of the students. Teachers must acknowledge students to share their knowledge
and information with each other.
Implementation approaches
Implementation approaches for curriculum are modeling, chaining, learning,
information, shaping, and discussion.
 Modeling- it is a way in which children imitate each other to improve learning
objectives.
 Chaining- it is a way of performing with a sequence in the curriculum program.
 Learning- students begin to learn and master this step. It helps to improve the skill and
knowledge of the students (Libâneo, 2017).
 Information- Information is gathered through articles, journals, newspapers, books
and library resources. Teachers teach their students to read these articles to gather
information.
 Shaping- behavior, and discipline of the student are shaped in this step. Students must
support each other in the learning phase.
 Discussion- teachers discuss lessons to the students. They interact with their teachers
to understand the lesson.

Technology and Information resources
Technology helps to gather information from various secondary sources that include a
website, online journal, online articles and others (Skultety, et al., 2017). Books and library
resources are helpful in providing information; still, secondary sources provide additional
information. Teachers should split students into groups to teach them in sections.
Technological knowledge is important for them to improve their skills and education.
Conclusion
The reading program includes various journals on science and technology. It is
helpful for the student to improve their knowledge in the field of science. Reading those
journals can increase their writing and listening skills as well. A well-planned curriculum is
helpful for providing students with resources.
