Kamloops, BC: A Detailed Diary of My Sun Peaks Mountain Experience

Sun, peaks, Skies, and fun in Kamloops
Here I am presenting an account of four nights and five fun-filled days that I spend in Sun
Peaks Resorts which is situated at a distance of 56 kilometers, in the northeast direction
from the Kamloops. Last month I visited this exotic resort. It was an unplanned visit. I was
surfing on the internet when I discovered that month of March and April is off-peak seasons
for the ski resorts. This article also told me a lot about the last minute discounts and
additional perks in different adventure activity packages.
Unadulterated Simplicity of mountains is soothing
Quite instinctively I decided to visit this place and booked my tickets while searching for last
minute discounts on travel fares. After reaching there, I started to search for
accommodation. My search lasted for few hours, after a lot of effort I figured out that it is
better to reside in a ski hotel, where apart from the Ski training package they offer boarding
and lodging as a part of the package. Finally, I ended up in the Pinnacle Lodge. It was a small
place with wooden exteriors and interiors. When I compared this place with the rest of the
hotels I find it a bit soothing because of the peace and simplicity associated with it.
On the first day, they handed over an itinerary for the next five days. I tried to read it again
and again with an intention to understand my routine for the coming five days. The only
thing that I figured out was the Grading ceremony on the fifth day. I had my dinner in the
restaurant of the lodge where I tried a gourmet local cuisine. I didn't like it much and
decided to go for chicken hamburgers and diet coke.
On my second day, they offered me a continental breakfast, I liked the orange juice, sharp at
nine o clocks, a bus came in front of the lodge. During the course of the journey, our guide

told me that we are going to the boot camp which is located on the track of the Sunburst
Bubble. After reaching the boot camp, they introduced me to a group of people. I realized
that these ten people are going to accompany me during the ski training experience. After
an ice-breaking session, our instructor Michael introduced us to the ski gears. He told us
about the importance of the boots and sticks along with the mainboards.
Informed consent for danger and the beginning of an uninformed journey of fun
After it, they shared a safety manual with us, on the same day they also took our signatures
on the informed consent form, in this form they told us about the dangers associated with
the skiing. After the initial training, they called a lunch break, this time I was feeling very
hungry. So, I had a stuffy vegetable sandwich loaded with cheese and other pastes. During
the second half of the day, they told us to climb on the snowcapped skiing track. It was a
tiresome journey; it took me thirty-five minutes to reach onto the top. However, on the way
back, I came down in 40 seconds and fell down on the snow because I failed to control my
speed. During the next three days, it was an exhausting journey to the top and smoothing
flying towards the bottom. During the next three days. I learned about applying breaks to
the skies, falling safely to kill the speed. Balancing myself on that almost frictionless surface
was a difficult task all the time. However, the snow was beaten and a bit soft.
When I felt that I am underprepared
It was a tiresome task to keep up with the routines of the skies. I am a gym person;
however, I never exercised for more than two hours at a stretch. While learning the skies on
the track of sunburst, it became a difficult task for me because I need to work for eight
hours during a day.

After spending an exhausting day on the track, it was difficult for me to connect with any
other activity of this happening town with some great nightlife options. In the absence of
the city lights, the sky above the town was bright and it reminded me of the proverbial
poem of "Twinkle-twinkle little star. On the fourth day, they checked my skills on the ski and
noted my time with the help of a stopwatch.
When a B-grader wrote his travel diary
On day fifth hotel staff told me that this is my last day in the hotel because of the package is
over, we went to the skiing track once again, where they awarded grades to us, I received a
graceful B grade. The track of Sunburst Bubble skiing track, the surroundings of the
snowcapped peaks and the sky free of city lights, I will never forget these five days of my
life. My friends told me to jot down all my days in a travel diary. After spending so many
nights with my scribing pad, I only manage to write only nine words that read “Now I know
the real meaning of word exotic.”
