Kerala Floods: Building Damage, Causes, and Resilience Strategies

This report examines the impact of flooding in Kerala on buildings, focusing on building types, construction practices, and materials affected by floods. It identifies the root causes of building damage, including heavy rainfall and weak soil structures, and explores technologies like jack technology for preventing building damage and enhancing resilience. The study also reviews flood resilience measures, such as water exclusion strategies and green infrastructure, and analyzes various case studies of flood events and management approaches from around the world. Government efforts to promote flood-proof housing are also discussed. The research employs a methodology including PRISMA, qualitative analysis, and thematic analysis to provide a comprehensive overview of flood resilience in Kerala.
