EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report is aimed to provide the roles and importance of different business functions of
KFC. All the units such as finance, production, human resource and marketing perform their
roles efficiently in order to contribute to the common objective of the organisation. Each
department is interrelated and interlinked with each other in order work effectively and
smoothly.
There are mainly two types of research which includes primary and secondary. The
primary research is done by the researcher itself where the information is taken directly by the
researcher from the target population. On the other hand, secondary research is done from the
primary research already undertaken by the researcher. It includes books, journals, etc. The
research undertaken to form this report is secondary research where books and journals are
referred in order to complete the assignment.

INTRODUCTION
Business functions are referred to the activities which an organisation caries in order to
earn profit. The main business functions of an organisation includes finance, human resource,
product, finance and many more (STANECI and et. al., 2020). The company chosen for this
report is Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) which is an American restaurant dealing in fast food.
This report shall cover the roles and importance of business functions of KFC and their inter
relation with each other.
TASK 1
Role and importance of business functions.
KFC undertakes many business functions in order to succeed and grow in the market
which are follows-
Marketing refers to the promotion and introduction of the product to the potential and
existing customers. The marketing department of KFC is entrusted with a role to plan the
advertising of the products which the company is offering to its customers. Further it keeps an
eye on the competitors in order to look into what new they are introducing. The importance of
this function is that it makes the full use of the marketing strategy which involves marketing mix
so that planning can be done effectively (De la Torre, Gozzi and Schumukler, 2017).
Finance refers to managing and allocation of funds. The finance department of KFC
undergoes role of providing close support to the managers of different unit so that they can imply
the finances adequately. It also analyses the results from the business and prepares quarterly or
monthly reviews of the business operations. This unit is important because it manages the
overall fund of the business and allocates sufficient budget to all in order to maximise the profits
of the company.
Human resource refers to the workforce of the company. The HR department of KFC
performs the role of recruiting the competent and high qualified people in all units as per the
requirements. It undergoes the process of reviewing the applications of the candidate and
interview the competent personnel in order select them for operating the business functions. This
unit is important as it recruits the best candidate at right time in order to expand and grow the
business (Fenech, Baguant and Ivanov, 2019).
