IT or information technology can be referred to as the proper utilization of systems for
storing, retrieving, transmitting and even manipulating confidential data for any particular
organization. Information technology is considered as the major sub set of ICT (Vaishnavi &
Kuechler, 2015). The system of an information technology helps in better execution of
business operations since it includes software, hardware as well as peripheral equipment. The
following journal article focuses on usage and value of ICT in regular business operations of
the very popular fast food franchise, KFC.
2. Usage and Value of Information and Communications Technology in Everyday
Business Operations of KFC
KFC is one of the most popular and significant fast food organization in the world
that is being operating in several countries throughout the world. One of the major reasons for
their success is the proper usage as well as valuing of information and communication
technology in their regular business operations. The systems of ICT eventually enable the
business in storing, processing, analysing and even sharing of the huge amounts of data
(Dutta, Geiger & Lanvin, 2015). Since, KFC mainly has to deal with customers’ data, it is
extremely important for them to ensure that the information available from the respective
corporate data should enable the employees or management for making business decisions in
a smooth manner. The major usages of ICT in KFC’s regular business operations are as
follows:
i) Better Decision Making: Since, ICT is responsible for resolving the issues and
complexities of data management, it becomes quite easy for the management of KFC to
undertake better decisions in their business. Due to effective communication networks, entire
process of decision making becomes much easier.

ii) Increased Productivity: The second usage and value of ICT for the business
operations of KFC is increased productivity (Bloom et al., 2014). After automation of
business processes and providing the employees with ICT tools, the respective could
improvise their overall productivity. Thus, there would be a better utilization of resources and
decreasing the lead time.
iii) Improved Customer Services: KFC is being able to improve the customer
services, hence boosting overall satisfaction of customers. The service personnel, who work
in the organization could easily access to the customer with the help of ICT and secured
Internet connections.
iv) Better Virtual Collaboration: As KFC has its branches in all over the world, it is
extremely for them to remain virtually collaborated and communicated, so that the business
processes are being executed efficiently (Marchewka, 2016). With the major help of ICT
enabled communication networks, they are able to reduce complexities related to virtual
collaboration.
3. Conclusion
Therefore, from the above discussion, it can be concluded that ICT plays one of the
most important role in execution of business processes and operations. It helps in proper
utilization of any computer, storage, networks as well as physical device so that the
organization is able to create and store every form of electronic data. The above provided
