Learning objectives for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for kindergarten

Kindergarten students needs to be motivated towards performance objectives carefully such that

1. Listening and Speaking: Kindergarten students being young learners need to be
encouraged to listen to English speaking at their homes. At school premises, they should
be encouraged to listening and speak in English. This will improve their vocabulary skills
and language skills.
2. Reading: Kindergarten students should be encouraged to read from small stories or
poems in English language (Bybee, 2008). Such stories will be able to retain their interest
pertaining to English.
3. Writing: Development of writing skills for these young learners can be created by
encouraging them to write in the language. Small words, letters or sentence according to
their levels of knowledge should be written in English as against their own language.
Conclusion
The above mentioned strategies will help non-native speakers develop language skills. These
strategies will also encourage them to listen, read, develop grammar or vocabulary development
along with writing skills. Such skill development will reduce their fear from the language
learning.
