Asian forms possess the resources and the capabilities that help them in the
production of Amazon Kindle when compared to firms of US. Amazon Kindle refers to a e-
reader device which was developed with the help of Amazon Lab 126 based within the region
of California. Kindle 1 can hold around 200 e-books that was sold out in the six hours after it
debuted in the year 2007. The US manufacturing does not have the capabilities that can help
them in production of Amazon Kindle. Kindle production is outsourced to various countries
who possess capabilities and resources that aids in manufacturing of Amazon Kindle
(Hussain et al., 2017). Design engineers who live within the United States do not possess
capabilities for handling the complex new designs which poses difficulty for them in relation
to manufacturing of Amazon Kindle in United States. It has been found that almost all the
laptops are manufactured and designed within Asia. There are many opportunities within
Asia that helps them in working with manufacturing specialists which helps in making design
engineers of the Asia more capable. There is erosion in relation to PC manufacturing
capability that has contributed to eroding design skills of the PC. There remains a great deal
of that of product market competition in United States which forces the firms for leaving
design function for the suppliers of Asia. This can pave the path for making Asia original
design manufacturer (Lovelock & Patterson, 2015). The manufacturer based in US does not
have cutting edge technology that helps them in production of high end products like the
Amazon Kindle. The components pertaining to Amazon Kindle are manufactured in United
States and the various components are produced in the Asian countries of China, Taiwan
along with Korea.

US refers to only country that has the capability of manufacturing Apple computers.
The products that can be used for the production of Amazon Kindle are manufactured in
Asian countries and not of US. Production workers who produce PC comprise small portion
of entire workforce. The regulatory environment and that of production cost causes American
companies of assembling products that is outside United States. The main difference that lies
in between producing PC and Amazon Kindle pertains to the use of resources. Manufacturing
the products that can improve the PC has changed in the present age. Manufacturers need
interaction pertaining to designing of PC that can aid in optimization due to advances made in
the arena of technology. The designing of the PC is done by Asia and this leads to loss of
competitiveness for that of United States (Armstrong et al., 2015). The job opportunities are
being lost in the US on account of this reason. The value adding services are being taken out
of the country the employment opportunities are shrinking. The people in the present age
have to change careers on account of that of value adding services. There are parts of the
Amazon Kindle and that of assembly which comes from Asia where the process of the
production takes place. The creation of design and that of manufacturing is being carried out
in overseas by taking recourse to outsourcing.
Role of the US government
There are world class universities within China and that of Korea that helps in
fostering growth. The universities can be used for the purpose of research within the United
States that can help them in the aspect of development. Taiwan has made use of applied
science and they have emerged to become greatly successful (Baker, 2016). The government
should make efforts and take recourse to Research & Development that can play an important
role in making US competitive. US government can foster competitiveness in the event of
balancing short term concerns with that of the long term ones. US can depend on the services

United States should make interaction with that of manufacturing specialists which can
ensure the competitiveness of the US within the global market. It can be said from the point
of view of an institution that US government should lay stress on the workforce skills
development which can play a role in making US a lot more competitive (Brown, 2016).
United States companies can carry out partnerships with various universities along with the
colleges that can develop workforce based on needs. Skills training should be emphasized by
government that can prove to be greatly beneficial for that of US government.
