Report Proposal on Knowledge Management
Organisation choice
The organisation is selected as Oman Human Rights; a governmental and non-profit
organization monitors human rights in Oman. I am currently working at this place from past 7
years and so I have easy access to both academic and physical materials. Hence, my choice
of enterprise is based on appraisal number 1.
In relation with this, the research is being carried out on Knowledge Management in Oman
Human Rights by emphasizing on knowledge sharing and dissemination across many
departments in the enterprise.
Overview
Oman Human Rights is based in Oman with a key focus to document human rights violation.
The internal structure of this Organization is just as any other secondary level organisation in
Oman enables every individual to meet global standards by offering human rights methods
and norms. In this organisation, there are several departments including complaint
department, IT department, HR, Financial, and Chairman Department.
Knowledge Management in Oman Human Rights
In Oman, this is one of government committee whose center is based in Oman, promoting
awareness of human rights among all sectors of the society. This organisation have an
information management system named as “Self-Service”. The application language of this
system is Java plus HTML5 and database is ORACLE. To coordinates various departments
internally, OHRC uses the system in knowledge management with sharing of employees’
information and observational knowledge. This helps the organisation to increases its
operational efficiency. Largely, the departments can team up with offering efficient services
to the employees with observing the several costs in the organization.

Research Process
The key focus of the research will be on the IT department, other relevant departments in
Knowledge Management and organisation employees as the information is disseminated and
shared within these quarters. While gaining necessary information, the methodology includes
observation and interviews carried out with the Oman Human Rights employees.
Based on the outcome with the stated methods of data collection, an inclusive analysis is
made on Knowledge management while bringing up suitable results established. Various
evidence is acquired with the analysis that Knowledge Management at the organisation is not
as effective as executive’s management needs to implement more and more measures to
ensure stable communication and loss of data during dissemination and sharing.
A SWOT analysis was also done in relation with the research methodology and it provides
various relevant insight on every strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat linked to
knowledge management strategy used by the organisation.
Justification of Research Methodology
It can be said that all the methods used in the collection and acquisition of information were
effective and efficient as they offer desired understandings on knowledge management at the
organisation. The data is stated below showing the information that why those respective
methods are suitable –
Observation – This assisted create how ineffective the Wi-Fi is utilized in sharing of
information and dissemination across departments.
Interviewing – It was found that all the staff do cooperate for sharing necessary information
in relation with knowledge management at the organisation.

Conclusion
Although Oman Human Rights has created a system for Knowledge Management that
confirms that all relevant information is being disseminated and shared within the
organisation, a much needs to be done to ensure that there is no alteration and disruption of
information during dissemination. This can only be done with creating the proper knowledge
management strategy and these are stated in the recommendations section of the report.
