Introduction
The knowledge management is a process where the organization can access the raw
data analyse them to get the right information. Proper knowledge management will help the
organization in the decision making process. The paper will evaluate process of retaining the
knowledge for the organization. The controlling of the information can be done through the
proper knowledge management and business intelligence. On the other hand the
documentation of the personal and the IT knowledge and significance of the documentation is
also discussed in the paper.
Discussion
For retaining the knowledge of the IT department in the organization, business
intelligence can be applied for the organization. This can be considered as a part of the
knowledge management. Knowledge management is about the retaining, process and
maintaining the flow of communication and knowledge in the organization (Pearlson,
Saunders & Galletta, 2016). The organization can gain benefits from gaining the knowledge
isolated within the departments or work groups. After gaining the knowledge rom the IT
department through the knowledge management and business intelligence, the analysis of the
information and data is done through the business analysis.
The process of retaining the information form the IT department can be initiated
through collection of the information regarding IT department. The information can be
related to the ongoing projects in the organization and the information regarding the
infrastructure of the IT department (Timm et al., 2016). The analysis of these information
will indicate the technologies IT department is capable of adopting for positive changes in the
organization.

Retaining the knowledge regarding different IT products and services: In order to
retain the knowledge regarding different IT products and services, the business intelligence
can be used. Business intelligence is defined as the set of technologies or the processes that
will help the users to understand the business performance of the organization (Kolb et al.,
2015). It has been seen that the analysis of the business data from the organization will help
to understand the knowledge of the different departments of that organization which also
includes IT.
At the initial stage the gathering of the data is done in a proper way. The business
intelligence processes are applied in order to collect the data. Those collected data are
documented in a proper way so all the information are arranged in a proper way (Laudon &
Laudon, 2016). While making the documentation technical and non-technical information are
mentioned explicitly. On the other hand there should be a mentioned difference between the
data, information and knowledge.
Conclusion
Managing of the data in such way will help the storage of data in a proper way. The
data and information found from the document by mentioning any of the attributes of the data
or information. All the features of different IT projects will be documented separately so that
theses information can be accessed easily.
