INTRODUCTION
Knowledge and skills are the most important part in everyone's life because it helps to
conclude any of the work in systematic manner. Each and every person should have the
knowledge and skill so that they can deal with the situation which come across their life
(Berliner and Rosenshine, 2017). When it comes to Nursing field, skills and knowledge is the
most important part because it provides the best guidelines through which positive outcomes
can be achieved by the nurses who have been assigned by the duty in any of the healthcare
centre (Forbes and et. al., 2016). In context of the file, there will be the discussion on Medicine
administration. There will be brief introduction about medicine administration in the beginning
and then it will be discussed that why it is important and what should be done in ahead so that
better outcome can be obtained. Even impacts will also be written to enhance the performance.

Medicine Administration is one of the most important procedure in any hospital because
each and every medicines are distributed from this department (High and et. al., 2016) . Firstly,
to operate this department I have invested my time in the medical field as a student of medical
pharmacists where I have learned about the information of medicines. Here, I have learned that
which medicines should be given in any disorder to provide better healthy life to the patient.
Secondly, I have learned skills which is mainly related with the price of any kind of medicine
that is required to be sold to service user. Thirdly, as a medicine administration I have to learn
knowledge about how to solve problem of patient related with any kind of disease. Medicine
administration is an important aspect for providing appropriate care to patients to make them
disease free. It includes my problem to having a little bit doubt to provide medications due to
allergic reactions which impacts on medicine administration. It is required for me to enhance
my knowledge and skills to make accurate decision about medicine administration and allergies
in order to make correct decision of the same for wellness of specific individual. For obtaining
this knowledge I had spent my leisure time with the pharmacists so that knowledge can be
enhanced in this field also. I frequently ask many of the questions with them required the
medicine which they issue against the slip which is prescribed by the doctors . In addition, I
have attained different seminars where special classes are conducted for enhancing the
knowledge regarding in this field. Also, social media helped me a lot for gaining additional

advantage because they helped to collect all of the relevant information whenever I want it
within shorter period of time (Ofosu and Jarrett, 2015).

There are number of things which I have done in recent period of time so that my
knowledge in medicine administration can be improved (A Elliott and et. al., 2015). It plays the
vital role because there are many cases where doctors are not available and in that situation it is
important to have knowledge of medicine to provide better treatment facilities to patient.
These types of knowledge is implemented on daily basis life within the clinic because there are
most of the situation where doctor do not have time to give additional focus to the patient who
are not in the critical situation (Atkinson and et. al., 2015).
The main reason that I want enhance my skill because I do lack many of the things in me and
among them quick decision making is the one. For me it is necessary, that I should improve this
skill so that I can give my best in future. For that, it was important for me to use different
approaches so that I can improve my decision making skills and all my approaches which are
mentioned above helped me a lot through which I am now able to take quick decision whenever
there is a requirement of it.
The medicine administration skill can be improved with the help of demonstrating knowledge
about relevant aspects that are mentioned here. It is necessary to educate client about
medications before providing them and make them learn about self administration processes.
However, it is essential to obey right of patients regarding medication, reason, dose, route,
frequency, time and site. I must assess the drug allergies of patient and make sure appropriate
position for medicine administration. Moreover, it is significant for me to used specific route of
medicine and dosage according to age of patient like dropper are used for infants, toddlers for
6 months baby, capsules to school age children and adolescents get adult dosages.
Professionals values are required to be considered while conducting medicine administration
for particular health problem (Swanson and Roberts, 2016). It includes the principle that nurses
are responsible for administering medication within their scope of practice. Basically, it is
necessary for me to gain appropriate knowledge about effects, side effects, interactions of
medication and take correct actions as per requirement. I must consider seven rights of
medication administration like right client, right medication, tight time, right dose, right
reason, right route and right documentation. It is essential that overall identified orders should
be clear, complete, current, legible and appropriate for specific patient. It is mandatory to obey
overall guidelines and instructions provided by Nursing and Midwifery councils and local

policies.
Nursing and Midwifery Council provides main four codes of standards such as priorities people,
practice effectively, preserve safety and promote professionalism & trust which must be
followed by me in correct way. Initially, prioritise people consist to take care of their respect
and dignity through treating them with kindness as well as compassion. It consist to listen them
carefully and positively respond to their preferences and concerns regarding clinical procedures
of treatment. It is necessary for me to make sure about completion of their physical, social and
psychological needs maintain their privacy and confidentiality. Secondly, practice effectively
that consist to practice in line with best available evidence and communicate clearly with
colleagues which helps to work cooperatively. It involves the criterion of sharing skills,
knowledge and experience to others for benefits of people receiving care. It also consist to
maintain clear & accurate records and remain accountable for my decision to delegate tasks as
well as duties to other individuals. Thirdly, preserve safety is an important code of conduct that
consist recognise work and work within limits of my competence and remain open & candid
while providing treatment to patients. It include to always become ready to help in emergency
situations and take immediate action if patient is at risk regarding their safety and public
protection. Moreover, promote professionalism & trust refers to uphold own position as
registered nurse, midwife or nursing associated by following desired standards and values along
with completing required registration requirements. It involves to cooperate with entire
investigations & audits and ensure improvements in patient experiences.
The above mentioned codes of standard and other guidelines impacts positively on patient
outcomes and skills of professionals. It has been analysed that following these standards are
helpful for me to make appropriate decisions for providing correct treatment to an individual for
their well being. However, these codes of conduct facilitate to make me perfect in conducting
clinical activities along with reducing drug errors.
As per Nursing and Midwifery Council it is necessary for every nurses to keep themselves
updated because it is one of council which keep every single detail of nurses who are available
within United Kingdom (Duffy and Gillies, 2018). The main impact of this trusts are that they
doesn't allow any of the nurse to join the practise season till they have meet the criteria which
they have set. Even this is helpful too because forces every nurse to meet out the standard
through which better health facilities can be provided to patient (Newton, Taylor and Crighton,

In short, it can be said that the main reason due to which I am willing to improve my
skills in various area is the requirement of Nursing and Midwifery Council because they don't
want to tolerate any kind of negligence from the nurses point of view (Thomas, Middleton and
Llewellyn, 2017).

Now what? How has this experience helped to inform your future practice?
My experience is helpful to make me learn about effective clinical practices that impacts
on my future performance in terms of improving patient outcomes. I have improved my skill to
reduce chance of occurring drug errors and other type of mistakes which facilitate to provide
appropriate medical facilities to client for their welfare. However, my skills and knowledge to
follow every code of conduct and policies are responsible for improving perfections in
performance which is favourable in future practices to attain better outputs. I have change my
ways to conduct my clinical tasks that impacts positively on relevant outcome. Yes, additional
skills which I have gained in recent period of time is very helpful because most of the time
when I need to help myself from the situation were doctors and other pharmacists are not
available then I am quick to take my decision that was lacking in me (Oborn and et. al., 2017). I
have learned the way that how any of the patient is required to be dealt and what are the basic
requirements which they might want during the period where they are sick. Eventually, I am
gaining knowledge from such skills that will enhance me to develop my knowledge in medicine
field in wider context.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it has been concluded that knowledge and skills play's an important
role as it is important life because it helps to conclude any of the work in systematic manner.
Moreover, medicine Administration is one of the most important department in any of the
hospital because each and every medicines are distributed from this department. It is necessary
to obtain knowledge in my leisure time with the pharmacists so that knowledge can be
enhanced in this field also. It is necessary for me to show the evidences to the management so
that they can trust me to delegate opportunities to whenever any of the senior doctor or
pharmacists is not available to deliver their services. Thus, I Can say the skills and knowledge
are very much important of an individual to have so that they can use it is effectively.
