The employability skills refers to the qualities, skills and the attitudes that the employers claim to be important in
the workplace. The different employability skills are positive attitude, teamwork, communication, the willingness to
learn, self-management, the skills of thinking and resilience. The employers need to develop all these skills as
normally they work in teams. So if the employers do not have all these skills then misunderstanding occur in
between the team members and the team work will not become effective (Hartmann and Jahren 2015.)
The students also need to develop these skills before graduation because after completing studies, the
students will go for work where these skills only will determine how efficient the person is as a worker (Ebrahimi
Mehrabani and Azmi Mohamad 2015)

academics. The skills that the students are learning from there will increase the employability skills

candidates need to look after the site of the company where the news of examination or job vacancies are provided
(Prassl and Risak 2017).
In the field of finding jobs regarding the management, the most important or appropriate avenue is finding jobs in
the company website. This is the most prominent way of finding the job because in this avenue the company is
contacting directly with the employer. Another way of finding appropriate jobs of management field is by
networking. The job portals through which the recruiters contact with the employers are not fake. In some cases,
fake recruiters contact with the employers and charge money from the employers and provide false assurance
regarding the job and after receiving the money they never contact with the employers (Reilly et al. 2018).

The job application is for the post of manager of this company. This organization is one of the best
organization to start the career with. After completing the graduation and also after completion of the extra-
curricular activities of leadership skills, a fresher candidate can start the career from this company only. I must be
chosen for this company rather than choosing other candidates because I am confident about mu leadership skills
and abilities. I have learnt a lot of leadership skills and knowledge from different workshops where leadership skills
and knowledge were taught with great proficiencies (Boies, Fiset and Gill 2015). So I can do all the work of the
manager properly and confidently. Presently the company is looking for a candidate who has excellent skills of
verbal communication and non-verbal communication, the candidate should have the ability to learn quickly, a
person with a base level of business acumen who have previously worked in any part time jobs at the time of
studying in the university. The candidate should have completed the degree within three years, must be a citizen of
Australia and obviously the person must have positive attitudes towards their work. So it is seen that I have all the
qualities that are required in the company. I can assure that I will give my best for maintaining the position of the
manager. I have also learnt the leadership and management skills properly and can apply when there is a need to
apply the management skills and when there is a need to apply the leadership skills.
CAR can be implied as a specific format for a resume, based on the terms, ‘Challenge’, ‘Action’ and ‘Results’. Hence
based on this format, the statements which one may used in his or resume, must reflect the challenges or
demanding tasks one has encountered throughout his or her academic or professional career, the course of
actions one undertook for the purpose of successfully fulfilling such challenges and the results obtained after
completing the same for the purpose of reflecting one’s level of competency in the face of such challenges. A CAR
resume format has been proven to be an effective strategy to communicate one’s proficiency and capability to
work under demanding circumstances since it clearly communicates to employers, one’s accomplishments and the
ways in which one was a potential asset to the previous organization one was employed in. Employers at present,
seek employees who have an credible experience of working well under organizational challenges, which is where a
CAR based resume proves to be beneficial (Ciarocco 2018).

A challenging work situation which successfully demonstrated by skills of interpersonal communication and
collaborative functioning is when I was required to communicate with my team and my reporting supervisor on the
ways in which my team’s performance could be efficiently utilised for the purpose of improving customer and
person centred service produced by my previous organization. One of the greatest challenges during team pitching
occurs when a team overly emphasises their achievements or when the team leader glorify themselves without
appreciating team efforts. Another major challenge was to develop a feedback survey complaint to a customer’s
level of comprehension and understanding. Hence, one of the key actions which I undertook to overcome this
challenge is utilise my skills of interpersonal communication which was patient and unbiased and hence
successfully resulted in a communication with my manager on the ways in which me as well as my team can
enhance our strengths, limit our weaknesses and empathise with customers. The overall result reflected a
successfully formulated customer service strategy.
Achievement or accomplishment statements are concise statements which reflect on the situations and
circumstances in an individual’s career which reflect success, career excellent and occupational proficiency. The
major elements incorporated in an achievement statement include the situation of challenge to the person, the
strategy undertaken to overcome the same and the result which reflected the individuals achievement. Such
statements are beneficial for inclusion in a resume or LinkedIn profile since they reflect and justify the capabilities
of an individual which makes them unique and skilled and hence, convinces employers that he or she is ideal for
fulfilling the organization’s objectives (Risavy 2017).
‘Successfullly educated, trained and collaborated with newly enrolled staff as a Team Leader, for the purpose of
successfully empathising with client’s unique preferences and deliverance of multi-faceted product orders, in a
retail environment which is challenging, fast paced, competititive and person-centered’.
Dear (name of the neighbour),
While I do understand the pressures you are encountering at the thought of the requirements of your job
application, I assure you that this novel process is not just interactive and convenient but will be sure to provide
you a fun-filled way in which you can successfully maximise your chances of winning your job application.

Before I advice you on how you may proceed to prepare yourself for your job application, let me walk you through
on what truly constitutes game based assessment and asynchronous interviews. You may be aware about
psychometric tests such as a personality test or an intelligent test which employers and individuals use to test the
skills and talents of potential employees. Now imagine all this in the form of a game! A game based assessment
is precisely a platform or test to demonstrate your aptitude or skills, but in the form of a game. While this may
sound challenging, you do not need any prior experience or skills or preparation for the same. For the
assessment, the organization will provide a link which you can access via your phone or computer and play the
game seamlessly. Further, before proceeding the organization provides simple instructions on how to play the
game. Additionally, such game assessments usually give you an opportunity to restart the game or level again in
case of failure (Molnar and Estrada 2018). This means that you can sit back and relax and play the game effortlessly,
and most importantly enjoy!
Another aspect which is a cause of your concern, is an asynchronous interview. While the term may sound fancy,
learning the basics will make you realise just how simple the idea is. An asynchronous interview implies an
interview for which you will not be required to face your employer – meaning they take place online and you and
your interview need not be present on the platform simultaneously. While this make sound scary, such interviews
can actually give you enough time to prepare yourself since you can give the interview at your own convenience.
However, even if the interview is not face-to-face, I would still advise you to prepare yourself as you would do for a
any interview. This would involve, establishing direct eye contact at the webcam, being dressed formally, ensuring
that you display a positive presence and thank the interview at the end. Further, practicing alone would be an
excellent way for preparation (Torres and Mejia 2017).
In addition to the above, I would strongly advise you to go through the section on ‘Career Services for Students and
Graduates’ at the UniSa University website which provides resources on career workshops, updates and career
based tests for practice (University of South Australia 2019). With these, I am sure you can ace your job application
successfully!
Regards
Dear (name of the neighbour),
I just viewed your resume and I must say, you did an incredible job! Upon reading the resume, I was impressed at
the way in which your resume reflected your key achievements in a positive and optimistic way. However, based on
my learning an experience, I would like to share that the existing job environment is highly competitive where
potential employees are continuously under the challenge to beat others to achieve their desired job position.
Further, organizational environments at present are at undergoing dynamic changes and incorporating challenging
situations. For this reason, employers are seeking to recruit employees who demonstrate exceptional ability to
remain strategic and efficient during such challenging situations (Finch et al. 2016). Hence, I believe your resume
must demonstrate a hint of competitiveness, which you can ensure by considering the following tips and tricks:
Document Page
A quick way to increase competiveness is your resume is to add power verbs. Power verbs have the ability to
highlight your achievements with greater weightage. Hence, adding verbs like ‘improved’, ‘resolved’, ‘initiated’,
‘formulated’, ‘enhanced’ and the like will emphasise your accomplishment statements and make your
achievements stand out to the employer as powerful, impactful and skilled (Apers and Derous 2017).
Another way by which your resume can be more competitive, is the by quantifying and expanding upon your
achievements and results. A good example of this, would involve adding numerical values to your statements. A
statement reading, ‘My skills of interpersonal communication and collaborative team leadership enhanced our
profits by X%’ holds greater credibility and attracts attention rather than one which reads ‘My skills of
communication and leadership improved our profits’ (Johnson 2017).
Emphasising on your achievements is another way by why your resume will be more competitive in comparison to
others. In the statements highlighting your achievements, I would advise you to use words which indicate
achievement and recognition, such as ‘recognised’, ‘achieved’, ‘elected’, ‘selected’. Additionally, adding links to
your ePortfolio at your achievement statements will further allow employers to view your achievements and
certifications (Corbière et al. 2017).
Considering the competitive environment prevalent in most organizations at present , employers now seek to
employees skills of leadership and delegation, in order to successfully work with the staff during challenging
situations. Hence, adding words which indicate team building and leadership skills I believe will reflect you as an
individual who can accomplish demanding targets ease. Such words include ‘collaborated’, ‘trained’, ‘led’,
‘mentored’ which will enhance the credibility of your achievement statements (Derous and Ryan 2019).
Lastly, presenting documentation of your energy and enthusiasm to improve your skills will enhance the
competiveness of your resume. I would strongly suggested you add links to the certification programs or course
work you attended while highlighting your awards (Spencer and Perry 2015).
I hope this helps! Let me know for further help. All the best!
Regards

Person requirement #1: Improvement and enhancement of existing written and verbal communication skills
Goal: To improve and enhance existing personal skills of written and verbal communication by undertaking online
educational sources like language courses, workshops on communication , short certificate course on language and
adherence to a personal development plan
Action: To improve my skills on verbal and written communication, I believe taking part in language based academic
and educational courses which teach the same. Considering that I have less than a year for improving my skills on
the same, undertaking shorter term courses would be beneficial. Hence for skill improvement I would undertake
short term spoken English or language and communication courses which will teach me, within a short time period,
on the ways in which I can speak, communicate and express my opinions in crisp and fluent language. In case of a
lack of vacancies in short term courses, I would look for workshops and presentations which would deliver
education on communication and language. Alternatively, in case of encountering time and financial constraints,
undertaking online based courses would also be beneficial in improving my skills of verbal and written
communication while sitting at home. I would also stick to a personal development plan to improve these skills by
regularly visiting the library, writing my own notes, reading UniSa educational sources and engage in actively
speaking and communicating within my peer group (Moore et al. 2018).
Complete by date: Within the next 6 months
Person requirement #2: Enhancement of existing cognitive, problem solving and memory skills necessary for
business acumen and as a result improve skills of efficient and comprehensive management.
Goal: To further enhance existing experience of business acumen by expanding internship or training based
proficiency.
Action: While I have minor experience in business, communication and management as an intern in the
management department of a community health organization, I am required to further expand on my skills. This
can be done by engaging further in additional training or internship experience. Hence to gain the same, I will
actively aim to look for additional vacancies as a management intern by undertaking online search for applications
and providing my resume in such areas. Further, I will also seek to look for business management courses which I
can engage online and for a short time period. Further , engaging in evidence based practice which involves

reading academic papers on topics like management, business and project management operations which will
further enhance my business acumen (Raven and Le 2015).
Complete by date: Within this year
Person requirement #3: Increasing graduate experience by undertaking educational courses in addition to the one
studied during graduation.
Goal: To increase existing experience in graduation by undertaking additional educational courses which are
different than one completed during gradation.
Action: At present, I hold a graduation degree in business management. However, as per the advertisement
requirements, additional educational experience in health and science, mathematics, computer science, law,
commerce and engineering. Considering my interest towards working in the management department of a
healthcare organization in the future and the present requirement of efficient management in such organizations,
undertaking personal research on health based scientific articles as well as applying for internship vacancies in
such organizations will prove to be useful in increasing my graduation educational knowledge. Further, considering
my inadequate proficiency in computer science, undertaking short term online courses teaching this subject will
prove to be useful in enhancing my graduation experience (Villachica et al. 2019).
Complete by date: Within this year.
Person requirement #4: Enhance skills of resilience and leadership for managing challenging educational and
professional environments
Goal: To improve my skills of leadership and resilience and hence, enhance capabilities of managing challenging
situations by undertaking online courses
Action: In order to improve these skills, I would undertake short term educational courses which will deliver
information on strategies and skills of leadership, effective communication and being resilient under challenging
situations. Engaging in certification based courses would prove to be an added advantage to my resume.
Personally, viewing online content on public speaking and leadership and practicing the same at home, will prove
to be useful in teaching me on the skills of being a good leader. Additionally, reading online sources on coping skills
and strategies will prove to be useful for improving my skills of being resilient while being faced with challenges
(Fleck, Threeton and Ewing 2019).
Complete by date: Within this year
Person requirement #5: Inculcating skills of positivity and optimism
Goal: To improve existing skills of optimism and inculcate values of positivity in order to keep oneself motivated,
driven and determined for the future
Action: Firstly engaging in visiting a career counsellor would prove to be helpful and instil personal knowledge on
career options and strategies of coping during times of distress. Further, engaging in personal skills of self reflection
and mindfulness will prove to be beneficial in self identification of personal strengths, weaknesses and scope for
improvement. Personally undertaking courses or viewing online content on motivation will be an additional useful
strategy for improvement (Travers, Morisano and Locke 2015).
