Press release
KW LEGACY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JULY 2, 2018
Waterloo Charitable Initiative Does Wonders
The case of KW Legacy
Waterloo, CN: KW Legacy was founded in 2014, with the objective of providing
scholarships to deserving students in financial needs. It started off with St. Jerome’s Alumni
to host the golf for scholarship events. The initial event raised over a $100,000 and when it
went on to include all of the 15 local high schools, the event raised over $360,000 over the
course of 4 years.
The next golf for scholarship event is set to take place in the month of September, and is
expected to raise over $500,000 this time. The main thing to note in this context is the fact
that the initiative has helped numerous students to get scholarships for higher studies. Thus
far, it has given scholarships worth $5,000 each to 52 students in the region of Waterloo.
However, this initiative has a certain criteria for participants. This involves students who are
in need of a financial aid in their studies, with significant talent in running or any other sport.
They have to write an essay on how they have made a difference in the community and how
they would anticipate their future legacy. Participation is $175 for Golf for Scholarships
event in September. Being a charity with no overheads, the entire 100% of the proceeds get
transferred to the local charitable initiatives.
The initiative is also looking at other factors, such as working with the Men’s Suicide
Council, to host Top Home Chef, and looking for solving other issues such as affordable
housing. At present, the initiative expects to raise $600,000 dollars across all of its initiatives,

Media Pitch
Dear,
KW Legacy has been closely working with the network of its founders over the last five
years, to create scholarship opportunities for students who are in need of a financial aid for
their higher studies. Currently, research suggests that there are over 100,000 students in
Canada, who are in need of financial aids to pursue higher education. This is where KW
Legacy steps in.
With its Golf for Scholarship events, we make sure that students get a chance at earning
scholarships, through the medium of sport. The eligibility criteria involves being in need of a
financial aid for the purpose of pursuing higher studies, while also having to write an essay
on how students think they have made a difference in the society, and how they think their
future legacy would turn out. The participation fee includes $175.
The initiative had raised $360,000 in its last year’s golf for scholarship, and is expected to
raise over $500,000 for the same, this year. Already having provided scholarships worth
$5,000 to 52 local Waterloo students over the course of the event, the initiative expects to
increase the number multifold this year around, which is why a wide media coverage is
required. The next event is set to take place in the month of September, and the main thing
which is required at this point is popularity of the event, so that people can be aware of the
initiative, and make the donations in large numbers, to help us provide more scholarships this
year, as it marks our fifth annual event. There is no overhead involved in this initiative, and
therefore, the 100% of all donations are utilized in the charitable activities.
KW Legacy also conducts events in support of Men’s Suicide Council, in the form of Top
Home Chef, and is also looking to expand its charitable initiatives. The upcoming recruitment

night is due on June 17, which would also need some media coverage, since the initiative
