This dissertation investigates the threats to human health posed by heat waves resulting from climate change. It aims to identify the factors contributing to climate change and the subsequent production of heat waves, analyze the impact of these heat waves on human health, and explore potential mitigation strategies. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing secondary data collected from books, journals, and online resources. An interpretivism research philosophy and inductive approach guide the study, with thematic data analysis used to extract relevant information. The study focuses on understanding the impact of heat waves on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and children, and examines the various health risks associated with heat exposure, including dehydration, heatstroke, and exacerbation of chronic conditions. Ultimately, the dissertation seeks to provide insights into reducing the adverse effects of heat waves on human health in a changing climate.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOPIC and AIMs/OBJECTIVES:

Description of topic: there are many different reasons because of which climatic changes are
occurring. These climatic changes are affecting health and environment in many different ways.
Climatic change can result in bringing drastic changes within weather. One of the main side effects
of climatic change is production of heat waves. Climatic change can result in flood situation,
storms, extreme hot weather etc. production of heat waves can directly result in severe
dehydration, acute cerebrovascular accidents, blood clots etc. but majorly, heat waves can
directly affect health of people with chronic diseases or people who take medication. When age
group of people and impact of heat wave upon their health are analysed then in such situation it
has been identified from various studies that older people and young children’s health is majorly
affected or impacted due to heat waves. But various other studies have further heled in
understanding that health impact of these waves on health of individual depends upon intensity
and duration of heatwaves as well as upon temperature.it can also cause health to suffer in many
different ways such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, dry skin, heat rash, cramps, headache,
weakness, and irritability. Impact upon health of healt waves and its seriousness also depends
upon a person’s ability to sustain heat.
Aim: to evaluate threats to human health due to heat waves due to climatic change.
Objectives:
 To identify factors that result in climatic change and production of heat waves
 To evaluate reason because of which heat waves are produced due to climatic changes:
 To analyse impact of health waves on human health.

 To identify ways through which impact of health waves upon human health can be reduced.
Research questions:

BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE METHODS TO BE USED

Methods to be used for achievements of main aim and objectives of this research are as
follows:
Research type: for this dissertation qualitative research type method will be selected
because it will directly help in collecting textual and qualitative data as well as it would
further help researcher in extracting important data for answering main research
questions.
Research philosophy: for this dissertation, interpretivism research philosophy will be
used or adopted by the researcher because it will directly help researcher in interpreting
main elements of the researcher in an appropriate and accurate manner. This philosophy
will further help researcher in interpreting human interest within research.
Research approach: for this dissertation, inductive approach will be adopted by the
researcher as adoption of this approach will directly help in theories and observations at
the end of the research. These observations and theories can further help in answering
main research objectives and aim in an appropriate and effective manner. Using this
approach appropriate pattern from observations are observed for answering amin
research questions in an appropriate manner.
Data collection: for this dissertation, only secondary data will be collected by the
researcher. This is because various number of studies till date have been published that
can be studied directly for achievement of desired goals and objectives. these secondary
studies will be collected from different books, journals, articles, online websites, portals
etc.
Data analysis: for this dissertation thematic data analysis method will be adopted by the
researcher as adoption of this method will directly help researcher in segregating data
with common themes, functionalities and meaning will be separated into a common
theme. This will further help in extracting important information for achievement of

desired aim and objectives of dissertation.

The main reason because of which this topic has been selected is because today due to various
human activities sudden change within climatic conductions are occurring. These climatic changes
are today resulting sudden change within environment conditions, temperature etc. In some cases,
due to climatic change, heat waves have also been produced. These heat waves produced have
negative impact upon overall health of individuals. Due to this, health of people living at hot
climatic condition places get affected negatively and drastically. As a result study of understanding
impact of heat waves upon individuals has become important and as a result this topic has been
selected and chosen for this study.
