6.1 Description and example
Evidence 1-with respect to current pandemic the business was affected to a great extent
as consumers were having fear and also employees were not ready to work by coming to office.
But for dealing with this situation, Jeff Bezos used transactional leadership style. This was used
because of the reason that this style of leadership focuses majorly on improving performance of
company by motivating the employees to work in proper manner. Hence, for this Jeff Bezos
provided with different types of the motivation theories and this will improve the working of
company. For this Jeff Bezos focused and emphasised on improving online shopping and this
attracted consumer and they became largest online retailer and eventually became successful
Evidence 2- for instance, due to COVID 19, all the employees were demotivated and
were not interested in coming to workplace. But in this situation Jeff Bezos undertook help of
transformational leadership in order to motivate the employee to come to the place and work.
The transformational leadership was particularly used because of the reason that it assists in
effective adaption to new changes. Jess Bezos undertakes the use of transformational leadership
because this involves the use of rewards and punishment for motivating the employees. This is
particularly because of the reason that when Jeff uses different techniques to motivate employees
then it increases the interest of employees for earning the rewards and they work in proper
manner. Hence, this will assist company in managing and implementing all the new changes in
effective manner. Therefore, the use of transformational leadership will improve the working
environment and will decrease the employee turnover.
6.2 Analysis
As per the views of Purwanto and et.al., (2020) Transactional leadership is being defined
as the managerial leadership which has a major focus on the role of supervision, organising and
the performance of overall group. This is particularly because if the leader will not be focusing
on all these aspects then the business will not be in position to work in effective and efficient
manner. This leadership style assumes that people perform their best only when there is proper
chain of command and it is clear. This is particularly because of the reason that when the chain
of command is clear than the working of each and every employee is also clear and work in
proper and effective manner.

On the other hand, Andriani, Kesumawati and Kristiawan (2018) argued that another
leadership style is transformational leadership which involves leader encouraging and inspiring
the employees in order to innovate and adapt to the latest changes within the external
environment. Jeff Bezos prefers the transformational leadership style because this style of
leadership assist the leader in creating an environment which is cordial to adapting the new and
latest changes. For example, Jeff Bezos undertake the use of transformation leadership because
he has proper understanding relating to having a major focus on the customer. Due to this, he
proposed a vision of becoming largest online retailer and eventually became successful.
