The following is the executive summary on the following theme: 'How do leaders use
communications to execute strategy in the 21st century?'
The communicative approach of leaders to execute strategy in the 21st Century: The first
article demonstrates that there are various ways that a leader or C-suite executives should use to
communicate within the organizations. To determine this, a literature review in concerning to the
role of leaders are also provided in this context (Waisbord, 2018). From the past two decades,
leaders noticed that proper communication with the employees help them to enhance the work
environment and the staffs give their best effort in their individual work. It is noted that internal
communication with the employees regarding the ongoing status or strategy can lead the staffs to
feel more connected as well as more engaged in their work (Argenti, 2017). In addition, the
senior management team of an organization always motivate and encourage their employees by
providing good communication with them and also encourage them to participate in the strategic
decision-making process. Thus in the 21st-century firm executives using strategic communication
to execute the strategy to enhance their complex business and organization settings.
Leaders’ communication approach: The second article explores the expectation and
perceptions of CEOs and board members in concerning the communication performance that
may increase their substantial growth. In other words, the study mainly identifies a traditional
mindset where the top executives of an organization mainly focus on their primary stakeholders
like employees and customers rather than that of the secondary stakeholders like activists and
politician (Tourish, 2014). The empirical research indicates that a gap is present between the
communication approach of higher authority in an organization and for diminishing this proper
strategy should be implemented. Hence for determining this a literature review is done that
shows the empirical insights of occurring this type of communication gap. Hence to improve the
combination approach, the leaders of top executives focus primarily on their stakeholders and
maintain good communication with them.
Execution strategy through communication by leaders: The third article evaluates that
leadership quality mainly depends on the process theories of organizations and communication
approach. In the 21st century dedicated leaders always wanted to maintain a competitive
advantage with the other similar firm in the market and for this, they maintain a good
communication approach with their shareholders (Zerfass, and Sherzada, 2015). Besides this,
both leadership and followership are considered to be a dichotomous process and it always
supports the team members to build a strong relationship with each other. Thus both the leaders
and non-leaders always wanted to maintain an interlocking pattern of communication because it
viewed as a driving force of enhancing the organizational growth. In other words, it is noted that
the study of critical communication approach from followers to leaders is considered to be a
useful aspect because it helps the leaders to easily convey their thoughts to their team members.

Hence the article demonstrates that leadership is considered to be the first order communicative
process because it helps the leaders to maintain a growth of the business and firm too.
