INTRODUCTION
In business, expertise is required to perform some specific tasks. Business management
and operation involves the planning and execution of strategies and system to make business
work properly. Administration of the business comes under the operation management. Leaders
and manger play a very vital role in the company & they make strategies to run smooth and for
the good environment in the organisation. They both also have role for the profit maximisation
they use their skills and utilize available maximum resource in the company for good
productivity. The leadership is ability which help the employee to attain the organisation goals
which the help of the team work. This present scenario is focused to analyse the activities which
has s been carried out in United biscuits which is the big brand for the biscuits manufacturing.
This project has been evaluated on the basis of different approaches and theories of leadership
(Fry and et.al, 2011).

A). Roles and characteristics of manager and leaders
For the development of company, mangers and leaders plays an important role and
assumed the huge responsibility of succeeding this competitive market. United Biscuits have
manger in every department to run the operations smoothly as per the required productivity of
the company. Leader of the company is known as strength of the company they guide to
employees to achieve the organisational goals leaders are require to motivate employee toward
their work. Manager and leaders both have different role and characteristics in the company.

manger and leaders are-
Direction- As per the direction in the company, manger make planning and decide the
budget for the work. Manager tends to keep his eye on every employee to manage the work

organisation. Manager is the person who controls and administers a group of staff or an
organisation, while leader is the one who has the capability to guide and lead the particular group
of an organisation to achieve the objectives. Under distribution management system which
means the collection and control of the applications which efficiently distributes the work.
Leader of United biscuit assure that distribution of the work is done appropriately among the
employees of an organisation so that it ensures the reliability and improved quality of the service
for its customers. In addition, they also ensures that the work should be allotted according to the
capabilities of the employees, so that it can assure the minimum outage time, maintain flexibility.
Another important work area of the leaders and managers is to transform the raw materials into
the finished products. They has to get the raw materials transformed into finished products
according to the norms, so as to provide the best quality service to the customers which results in
the good image of the company. The manager of the company has to make a perfect business
process design which includes the framework of the task, technology to be used, proper
communication among the hierarchy of people, control and coordination in the team. Leader of
the united biscuit fully optimise the resources and man power to achieve an optimal level where
production meets demand, which is also known as capacity management. Managers should
design the plan, which is effective in taking the decisions increasing the capacity management of
the company. Leader of the united biscuits takes into consideration all the long term and short
term aspects while production of the goods and services (White, 2016). Inventory management
means managing and controlling the production of the finished products for sale. Leaders and

the leaders along with the organisation should always adopt the strategies and plan

needs of an organisation. Proper management always ensures continuous development

Netherlands, France and Belgium. The company aims at reducing its production costs, deceasing
wastages, increasing healthy production of goods and services. It emphasises on the quality and
quantity management so as to render the product marketable to its customers timely and
efficiently. The leaders of the company wants the team to work efficiently so as to utilise the
resources in an optimum manner and render the demanded goods and services. It aims on the
cost leadership. The social responsibilities of the company also includes that the company the
production does not alters or tampers with the resources of the nature, so as to protect nature.
The company also desires to utilise the warehouse appropriately and it has established various
customer grievances system where they can explain the details and methods of production .it also
includes the details about how the product has been manufactured. The leaders and managers
want to deliver their products to the costumers without no issues, with a low shifting costs. The
store also focuses to take care about the strategies of the marketing and sales so as to improve
their quality. All these aspects are governed by the operations management of the company,
which plays a crucial role in the development of the company. So this shows that the operation
management is always a beneficial task for the managers and leaders of the company (Lisi,

There are two factors in the business organisation which affects the business that are,
internal factors and external factors. The internal factors are those which are within the
organisation influencing the operations, approaches and success of internal organisation. The
internal factors are those which shows about the performance of the company for achieving its
objectives, the strength and the threats .While, external environment factors consists the factors
which belongs to the outside of the organisation, which are not in the control of the organisation.

affected by many factors and decision by the leaders and managers. There are 3 types of the
factors that affects the internal organisation of united biscuits:

came up with the new ideas and innovations (Burke, 2013).
Employee morale: Morale of the work force of the company has been increased due to
the effective guidance of the leader and manager of the company.
Financial changes: They effect the performance of the company to a much extent, if he
company has more profits, it can have better production results and quality .but if its
facing financial crisis then it will have to minimise the production capacity of the
company which reduces the image of the company

the hands of an organisation. If the recession period is there, the business will not
prosper. Similarly in the boom period the business grow at a fast rate.
Competition: It is something which we cannot get rid of. Competition is a very

Government forces: They are those from which any business is affected by its policies.
The united biscuits was also affected from the same due to the policies and norms formed
