Leadership is the action of leading a group if people or an organisation as well as ability
to manage the operational activities of the business. In each and every firm leaders is necessary
as they manage all the work and provide best services to their consumers so that they can attain
the success in the competitive market (How Leadership Has Changed, 2017). The present report
is focused on Indigo Airlines. In the below mentioned report, discussion based on research
methodology, primary and secondary research. Along with this, different leadership styles which
the leaders can use to be discussed.
TASK
Business research is a field of the practical study in which firm includes the information
or data as well as they have to evaluate that data which will helps in managing the different
aspects of the company. It includes the consumer feedback, product research as well as
competitive analysis. Research methodology which implies and also helps in simplifying the
methods so that they can intended and use to collect the data. Along with this it is necessary so
that they can include the different concepts as well as theories which helps in underlying the
methods.
Primary research is a new research which helps the employees in finding out the specific
issue in the firm. All the issues can be find out by using questionnaires, survey as well as
interviews with the individual person or the small groups (D’Innocenzo, Mathieu and
Kukenberger, 2016). It is a great way in gathering or collecting the information or data so that
they can produce best products and services. There are four types which helps in doing primary
research which includes observation, focus groups, interview and questionnaire.
Secondary research makes use of the information or data which is collected by doing the
previous research for the other purposes and it should be done publicly. It includes the summary
as well as synthesis of the existing research rather than primary research so that they can collect
the appropriate data. It is to be done by researching the internet, newspapers along with the

internal sources balance sheet, profit and loss statements, inventory record etc. and in external
source government sources, universities and colleges, internet etc. which is to be included (Volz,

Indigo is a airline company and it is a deep and rich colour close wheel blue colour and
also having a some variants of ultramarine. There are different leadership style which the leader
of the company can follow and on the basis of that they can do creativity and innovation in their
services which helps them in attracting large number of consumers. Different leadership styles
are autocratic leadership style, democratic, laissez faire, transformational, bureaucratic,
charismatic leadership style. Indigo airlines is using bureaucratic leadership style and democratic
leadership style which help them in managing all the business activities so that they can attain
the success in the market. These two leadership styles help the leaders in making the final
decisions with the involvement of team members (Ceptureanu, 2015). They have to encourage
the creativity as well as people who are engaged or involved in completing the projects. It helps
in providing the high job satisfaction along with the productivity. Along with this they are using
bureaucratic leadership style which helps in following the different rules and regulations and all
the work should be done in a proper and appropriate manner. This style is helpful in managing
the employees who perform the daily as well as routine task and on the basis of that they can
accomplish the goals and objectives.
The operating environment of Indigo Airlines is to be improved with the proper and
appropriate consideration along with the oil prices down to a level at which domestic airlines
should be able to do post operating profit in the financial year by taking advice from the aviation
experts. Indigo Airlines is operating its business activities under the steady environment and in
this they have to take high risk so that they can increase the price of crude oil along with the
reduced threats in the competitive market (Hallinger and Chen, 2015). But on the other side,
downside risks have to include the higher price of crude oil as well as delay in the delivery of its
aircraft are to be included in cyclic factors. It helps Indigo Airline in increasing or expanding the
market share along with the long term visibility on the aircraft. When the company doing their
work as well as business activities in the steady environment they have to increase their
dynamics by doing the supply of the services according to demand. Along with this it also

use available resources in the specific time so that they can improve the services which they are

leadership styles along with the traits which helps them in doing the better quality work in
meeting or accomplishing the goals and objectives. They can use charismatic, democratic,
transformational leadership style as it have a positive impact on the company and on the basis of
that they can make the changes which are adaptive in nature and on the basis of that they can
attain the goals and objectives. This company having a focus on the experience of flying and
they have to focused and for that they have to do proper communication. Company maintains a
young fleet by selling and leasing the back its planes. When the firm starting their operations in
the year 2006, it placed a firm order for 100 Airbus which assist in providing a advantage. Indigo
Airlines is focused on the inorganic expansion by adding a plane in every six weeks. Along with
this company is providing best and qualitative services to their consumers. The success of Indigo
relies on the consumers by providing the low fares and regular on time performance as well as
minimal flight cancellations which will helps in attracting large number of consumers. Business
entity is using smart technology and on the basis of that they are providing the services. Along
with this company having good communication system which transmit the information or data in
a simple and short message. This will help in improving the performance in the market (Barr and
Dowding, 2015).

Autocratic leadership It is a leadership style which is characterized by the
individual person so that they can put proper control in
making the correct and appropriate decisions with the
expert advice. This style helps the leaders in easy to learn
as well as put proper control in the different activities. This
style is good for inexperienced person. The main
disadvantage is it increases the work pressure (Delmatoff
and Lazarus, 2015).
Democratic leadership This leadership style helps in doing more participative role
in making the correct and appropriate decision making.
They have to attain the opportunity so that they can do
proper participation as well as exchange the ideas for the
development. This leadership style aid in reducing the
communication gap and also provides the positive work
environment which helps in encouraging the responsibility
as well as challenges. In this style, to make the correct
decision is a long process.
Bureaucratic leadership This leadership style based on the fixed official duties
which is come under the hierarchy of authority. Along with
this it helps in applying a system of rules for the
management and decision making. By using this style,
leaders can put more control over the different
organisational strategy so that they can make correct
decisions. It helps in doing the work in the effective and
efficient manner (Hornstein, 2015). The main disadvantage
of the leadership style is that it provides the discourage to

doing the learning from the mistakes by putting the more
effort so that they can attain the success in their mission.
The main disadvantage of this style is that leaders may
develop the tunnel vision or arrogance by undoing their
